Have you been facing rejections for a while now? If yes, then it’s quite natural to wonder if the problem lies within yourself. Mind it though, the problem does not lie in your personality but may be in your expectations. Often people end up expecting a lot from their partner, making the latter feel uncomfortable and burdened. Meeting up with high expectations is never an easy task, but making it even more difficult for your partner is simply not advisable for your relationship. What’s worse, your partner may end up resenting you. Hence, to avoid this, here are some signs your relationship standards are way TOO high.

2/6

Long list of checklists

Everyone has their own checklists but if you have a long list of those for your partner to fulfill, then they are bound to feel trapped in the relationship. If your partner happens to not fit the bill, then you will start resenting that person for not meeting up to your expectations. This in turn, will make your partner feel incredibly uncomfortable about themselves.

3/6

Just 1 or 2 dates

If you have been able to go far as one or two dates every time with a person, then you may be looking at their flaws more than the person. Everyone has flaws, and we have to accept them. So, picking on every little habit of theirs isn’t going to help you at all.

4/6

Opinions of your friends and family

It’s a must for your friends and family to have an opinion on whoever you are dating. But, it shouldn’t be your deciding factor on whether you should be with that person or not. You should listen to those opinions, carefully analyse them and then understand whether this person is right for you or not. If you continue listening to your near ones rejecting every potential partner, then you’ll probably never find the one.

5/6

Not being up to your mark

If your relationship standards are too high, you will always get the feeling that nobody can stand up to you. Your partner may never feel good enough about this revelation because they will feel extremely hurt about not meeting up to your demands.

6/6

Comparisons with social media

Another glaring sign of you being obsessed with high expectations is comparing your life to that of social media. The world of social media has a very glamorous lifestyle that may showcase unrealistic expectations of love and relationships. And comparing your life to that will only destroy your relationship further.
