The five languages of love and everything you need to know about them

Whenever you talk to your friends about relationships, you come to a big realization that what you want out of a relationship is drastically different from what they want out of one. It's very easy to fall for the idea that everyone expresses and receives love the same way. But in reality, every individual has distinct desires, wants and needs from people in their lives and life in general. This is why we thought of giving you a better understanding of the five love languages so that you can be more clear on figuring out what yours is.

2/5

Acts of service

People with acts of service as their love language believes in actions that talk louder than words. These people don't resonate with words and gifts. More importantly, these people love putting forth the effort to make life a little easier and sweeter. Cooking a meal, running errands without being asked, taking care of little details of life is a way to show love towards their partner. Doing things that fulfill their partner's needs and wants demonstrates how much these people value and care for their relationships.

3/5

Receiving gifts

This love language isn't reserved for the greedy. Many people end up perceiving this language as materialistic when it actually isn't the case. Through gifts, you are able to say that "you are on my mind and in my heart, even when we are apart". Catering to this love language can be as simple as picking flowers on your way home or getting ice cream for your partner. Thoughtful gifts aren't really elaborate ones, but instead, gifts that demonstrate time and energy put into it which is speaks louder for this love language. People with this love language want to have these tokens that they can review and reflect on later.

4/5

Quality time

If a person identifies with this love language, it means carving out time to spend with their partner is the real deal for them. It's more than just sitting next to each other. People feel that they spend a lot of hours with their partners but don't understand why their partner is still unsatisfied. Quality time is all about having your partner's undivided attention, ditching distractions during date nights or breakfast conversations too.

5/5

Physical touch

It's easy to assume what this love language can mean, but it's not all about sex. In fact, people who resonate with this love language might not even have a higher libido than those people who don't have this love language. These people feel most connected when touch is involved. Oftentimes, a partner who values physical touch would like longer hugs and cuddling more than other ways of showing love. People who love holding hands while walking, snuggling or cozying up in general with their partner connect the most with this love language.
