Know these essentials

Getting a puppy can waive off all your woes and worries because their company can make you feel the happiest. Dogs are known to be man’s best friend because of their capability to love, trust their owner and be loyal to them. Their mere presence is a great stress buster and nothing can be lovelier than having a puppy on board in your house. But before you take this step, it’s necessary to know what you are getting yourself into. Here are some important things every first-time dog parent should know.

2/6

Research what breed is good for you

Always research what breed is compatible with you and your family. Do study on the different types of breeds and their temperament. Choose a dog breed that is suitable for your family.

3/6

Be prepared for the budget

There are going to be a lot of expenses when taking care of your dog. You have to keep in mind the food, medicine, vet and grooming expenses that might cut out a hole in your pocket if you’re not prepared enough.

4/6

Look for a vet nearby

Before you bring your puppy home, make sure there is a good vet stationed nearby so that you won’t have any problem locating one when you’re in dire need. It is also very convenient to have a vet nearby so that you can contact them whenever deemed necessary.

5/6

Lots of training

Bringing a puppy home requires a lot of training. You will have to consistently train your puppy to bring in obedience and teach them to not cause any house accidents. Positive reinforcement of behaviour is very necessary to teach house rules to your pup.

6/6

Know your dog’s needs

You have to take your dog out on a walk every day. You should also have plans in place when you’ll be away from the dog. Contact sitters, dog walkers and boarding schools for dogs where they are kept with utmost care.
