We just got done with the Valentine’s Day celebrations, and the supremely romantic photos of couples are still doing the rounds on social media. While some singles may think how they do not have a special someone to click pictures with, the ones who had a break up around the day may be overwhelmingly sad. The way Rakhi Sawant and Ritesh Singh broke up, can be very difficult for many to cope with.

Heartbreak around Valentine’s Day

Having a break up in Valentine's week, or right after February 14, is quite saddening. But not everything is in our hands, isn’t it? At times, things just don’t work out or are simply not meant to be, even after several tries. And that’s okay!

No time is a good time to break up with someone. However, a break-up in the love week is indeed heart-wrenching. But then, you have to overcome it. How? Here are a few tips that will help you deal with this tough time.

Top 5 tips to cope with a heartbreak

Do not pretend to be alright

Do not lie to your friends, or yourself that you are okay after the break-up. You are not fine and that is alright. The more you resist venting out the emotions, the more it affects your health and mind. Whatever the feelings may be, happy or sad, angry or disappointed, own up.

Stop over-socialising
Over socialising is never the key. To make people believe that it hasn’t affected us much, we end up putting up a broad, fake smile and socialise as much as we can. Stop yourself, especially after Valentine’s Day. Not that we want you to lock yourself up in a room, but maintain a balance. You can rather go for long spa sessions and pamper yourself the most.

Alcohol is not your solution
Alcohol is a temporary solution to your grief and anger, but what about the next morning when you are back to reality, still struggling with the pain and yet need to carry on with your chores. We know how difficult it is, but you have to be strong and move on. If you don’t feel like working or feel suffocated, take a break and go on a solo trip.

Good music might soothe you
Give those sad songs a break. Heartbreaks often mean an increase of views for sad songs but make it a point to listen to songs not meant about love or breakups. Some motivating, inspiring music may be beneficial to you.

Avoid rebounds
Looking at the photos, stalking your partner on social media or even sending them clingy messages are a big No-No! Don’t even go after your friends asking how your partner is doing or if they miss you. If you have decided to stay away from the relationship, remain true to yourself and try to calm yourself.
