7 ways to get noticed at work

We all want to be successful at work. After all, it’s the road to a comfortable life with a good bank balance, a spacious home, a fancy car, and whatever other materialistic pleasures you need. Also, competition in every field has increased manifold with time and it has become difficult to get noticed at work easily. And there is no doubt about the fact that getting recognized at work is the first step to success. If you are struggling to be noticed at work, here are 7 ways to make it happen.

2/8

Take initiative

Is there any complicated issue or project that no one is willing to work on? Or something your boss has been trying to plan out for weeks but is struggling with? Take the initiative to get it done. A great way to get noticed is by taking on a project that no one wants to tackle, but that has to get done.

3/8

Build a rapport everywhere

There is no doubt that people who get success are the people who know people. Thus, it is very important to develop your networking skills. Even the smallest of gestures can help you - if you are getting a cup of coffee, get one for your colleague as well. Networking is all about kindness and mutual support.

4/8

Participate in the office's extra-curricular activities

When it comes down to office events, do participate. However, do remember to be within your limits by not getting drunk and start blabbering. Don't let the boundary between the personal and professional diminish.

5/8

Do business development

If you bring a plan to bring in more business, you will be noticed for sure. It's your chance to be seen as an asset. This doesn't mean you need to go around distributing pamphlets. Rather, be aware of the opportunities that surround you.

6/8

Be a team player

Being alert to your coworkers’ needs, and offering to help when their workload is overwhelming, is the best way to establish yourself as a team player.

7/8

Never badmouth anyone

Don't ever indulge in talking behind anyone's back or gossip-mongering. If both of them find a way to your boss's ears, you can kiss your promotion goodbye. Gossiping and bad-mouthing won't lead you anywhere.

8/8

Speak up

Don't forget to share your ideas and inputs with your team or boss. Your input might transform the work your team is doing, leading to your role on the team becoming more significant. The standout employees are the ones who behave like leaders, even when their title is that of an intern.
