Being mentally strong

Hailing from a humble background, Rishabh Pant's rise to success is a story of grit and determination. And whenever life has thrown challenges at him, Pant has faced them with courage and emerged stronger. And so, one can learn to be mentally strong from Rishabh Pant.
Devender Sharma, who was the assistant to Tarak Sinha-- a veteran Indian cricket coach, once shared how Rishabh Pant showed great will and professionalism when his father died unexpectedly. For the unversed, Pant lost his father to cardiac arrest in 2017. Recalling the incident, Sharma was quoted by The Week: "(Pant) is mentally strong - even when his father died, he came back two days after the cremation to play an IPL game and scored runs." Back then, Pant had scored a half-century for Delhi Capitals (formerly Daredevils) during the IPL match, thus showing his determination to stay strong.

Bouncing back in life with hard work and determination

On December 30, 2022, Rishabh Pant had a near-death car accident while driving from Delhi to Roorkee. This resulted in Pant having multiple injuries for which he underwent a lengthy recovery period. However, despite having a near-death experience, Pant bounced back to life and how! The cricketer did not give up on his dream of coming back to the Indian cricket team and worked hard on his recovery and fitness for months after the fatal accident. He returned to IPL in 2024 with a power-packed performance, after which he was selected back into the men's Indian cricket team as well. This year, in IPL 2025, Rishabh Pant is the new captain for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

Work-life balance and prioritising family time

Right after winning the ICC Champions' Trophy 2025 in Dubai, Rishabh Pant flew down to Dehradun, India, to make it in time for his sister Sakshi Pant's wedding. This shows that despite having a busy work schedule, Pant prioritises his family and is always there for them when needed. In fact, he also often posts pictures with his mother and sister on social media, which shows the strong bond they share.

Being open to learning from others

Earlier this year, while interacting with the media, Rishabh Pant revealed that he has learnt a lot from his seniors and fellow cricketers. This shows his openness to learning and constantly adapting to change- skills that help people evolve and grow in their profession. "Yes, I’ve learned from a lot of captains and a lot of my seniors because I feel you just don’t have to only learn from your captain. There are a lot of senior players who have experience with the game and the way the game is moving forward. There’s a lot you can learn from all the seniors, not just the captain," Pant said. On being asked to specify the qualities he has imbibed from others, Pant added, “With Rohit (Sharma) bhai, I have learned how to care for a player. And I feel the same as a captain when I captain a side. I feel if you give confidence and trust to a player, he will do things which you can’t even imagine for you and the team. And that’s the kind of ideology we like to have."

Believe in yourself

In an interview with Star Sports titled 'Believe: To Death and Back' in 2024, Rishabh Pant spoke at length about his near-fatal accident, rehab and his plans ahead. Speaking about his accident and how he is overcoming the trauma of it, Pant said, "As a human being, I want to add things to my life. Not by eliminating what I like doing. The accident is a setback. How do you overcome that? By having the belief. That belief keeps growing and, at times, can border on the obsessive. But if you have belief in yourself, you can achieve anything." Rightly so! One can surely learn the power of believing in oneself from Pant!
