Here's what they feel
Not everyone likes having a female boss and there are several studies that say that women rarely like their female bosses. As per a 2013 Gallop study, while male and female genders showed their preference for a male boss, more women exhibited this preference than men. This was at a ratio of 39 percent of women who preferred male leadership, in comparison to 26 percent for men.
The study also said that both men and women admitted that while male bosses were known to be more jovial and interactive, the female bosses didn’t allow their relationships with other colleagues to be so open.
She would vent out on me
I was the only other female on the team, and she would take her frustration out on me. I always did my work well, especially since I wanted to prove to her I could handle bigger responsibilities. I had so many ideas for the company and I even made a document that I shared with her. One day while we were brainstorming, she said to me: “I’ve never looked at that document, and frankly, I never will.” I was shocked. The manager I had before used to love my ideas so much that he pulled me into his office for a day-long brainstorming session! Even if he did not like something, he would encourage me to think of more and see what can be done so that I am not discouraged. I ended up leaving for another job, even though I loved my coworkers, simply because working with her was so difficult. It made me terribly sad.
She would judge my work on the basis of my clothes
It was my first job and I have always worn Indian outfits with silver jewellery. That was my look and that is how I would go to work. But my female boss would make fun of me to my face, in front of the other teams and she would reject my work even without seeing it. After 3 months I wore a western outfit and painted my lips a ruby woo to work. I gave her the worst of my work too. I was personally testing my theory which unfortunately was right. That day she lauded my work and even included me in the weekly team lunch at this fancy restaurant in Gurugram. That day, I went up to my boss’s boss and told him what was happening. I was humiliated and add my young age to my reaction, I sobbed in front of him. He transferred me to another team, under a very strict boss and that changed my career, taking it to another level. That female in a way gave me thicker skin, so I still thank her for being a BEEP!
She had a chip on her shoulder for nothing
To me, a boss was just a boss. However, the females I dealt with seemed to have a chip on their shoulders and were overly 'assertive’ in my opinion. My last boss was a woman and she was very good at her work too but her habit of adding masala to office gossip during coffee breaks was super toxic. She had even squeezed some truly good and loyal employees from our team just because they had better resources than her. I still worked with them respecting them knowing that they were probably trying to show that they were as good at supervising as a male. But the truth is, women bosses have this evil air to them as if they are insecure all the time.
