Things to buy - Gold

One of the most bought objects on Akshay Tritiya is Gold. People flock to jewellery stores and online shops to buy gold on the same day, in the belief that its value will only increase. Be it a gold coin, a small ornament, a chain, or a ring, bringing gold home on this day is considered highly auspicious.

Silver

Just like gold, people also buy silver on this day. And in some families, instead of gold, silver is bought, as it is considered to be closer to Maa Lakshmi and her energies. Buying silver on Akshay Tritiya is said to bring balance in life and help people strengthen their financial status.
Some people also believe that bringing a silver coin home with images of Maa Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha grants the ultimate blessings.

Earthen pots

Earthen pots, or ‘mitti ghada’, is another item that people buy on Akshaya Tritiya. It is believed that people who cannot afford to buy gold or silver or something expensive on this day choose to invest in a good earthen pot, owing to its usability and importance during the summer months.
It is also believed that an earthen pot is made with soil as its main ingredient, which is a form of Mother Earth, equating to her blessings.

6/8

Tulsi plant

For Hindus around the world, the Tulsi plant is the epitome of purity and devotion. It is said to be a form of Maa Lakshmi, and a healthy Tulsi plant in the home ensures that the members of the family are free from disease, are successful, prosperous, and live a good life.
And many people choose to bring a Tulsi plant into their home on Akshaya Tritiya day, because it is believed that the blessings of Maa Lakshmi become constant after that.

7/8

Cotton

Another product that people buy on Akshaya Tritiya is Cotton. And while this might sound illogical, there are certain reasons to buy cotton on this day.
It is believed that as cotton is used to make wicks for diyas and lamps that are used during daily prayers, they are one of the most important parts of worship, and also extremely sacred. And as it is the cotton that helps light up the diyas and remove darkness, cotton is believed to be pure, enlightening, and helps in spiritual cleansing.

8/8

Rock salt

Another thing people buy on Akshaya Tritiya is rock salt. Why? Because rock salt has always been used as a cleansing agent, it is believed to be pure, remove negativity, and much more.
In Vastu and Ayurveda, rock salt is believed to absorb negative energy from a space and balance the body’s energy when used in bathing or cooking, and so on Akshay Tritiya, people buy rock salt to remove blockages from their life.
