Laapataa Ladies actress Nitanshi Goel makes Cannes Debut, pays homage to Bollywood Icons
Nitanshi Goel, the celebrated actress from the widely acclaimed film Laapataa Ladies, made a remarkable debut at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2025. Her portrayal of Phool Kumari in the Kiran Rao directorial garnered her significant praise and accolades, including the IIFA Award for Best Actress.
At Cannes, Nitanshi made a lasting impression with two distinct and memorable looks. For her initial appearance at the India Pavilion, she paid a heartfelt tribute to the golden era of Indian cinema. She looked elegant in a custom-draped ivory saree, but the highlight was her unique hair accessory: a pearl-adorned piece featuring miniature framed portraits of legendary Bollywood actresses such as Madhubala, Rekha, Sridevi, Hema Malini, and others. This thoughtful homage beautifully blended tradition with contemporary style.
Later, for her red-carpet debut at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, Nitanshi exuded glamour in a custom-made strapless black and gold gown by Jade by Monica and Karishma. The gown featured intricate Kasab embroidery and delicate macrame work on a sheer black fabric, creating a dramatic mermaid silhouette with a flowing train. Her elegant and confident presence on the international stage, following her success in Laapataa Ladies, firmly establishes her as a rising star to watch.
