Sydney Sweeney rose to global fame with her striking role of Cassie Howard. But the star many times had reflected light upon her dealing with panic attacks. In 2022, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Sydney shared her experience of getting panic attacks considering her busy schedules.
She said, to deal with attacks, she tried to stay away from her phone and took some time off. In order to get some relief from the constant fret, she retreated to her home in the Pacific Northwest for two weeks.
It was her family whose presence brought her some peace at that time. Although that briefly helped her, she admitted, “I still can’t get my mind to shut up, and I don't sleep.”
The star always had a bright career ahead with shows like The White Lotus, Euphoria which earned her multiple Emmy nominations.
Sydney’s anxiety kicked off, way before becoming a star, when she moved to a new middle school in Washington state.
That time her anxiety was associated with “horrible stage fright” as she said to USA Today.
“I usually throw up before having to go on stage and do a talk show or anything like that," Sweeney said. “I get really nervous”.
Along with her open discussion on her mental health, Sydney expressed her wish to become an early mom as reported by TeenVogue.
"I want to have a family, I’ve always wanted to be a young mom, and I’m worried about how this industry puts stigmas on young women who have children and looks at them in a different light. I was worried that, if I don’t work, there is no money and no support for kids I would have”, she said.
The actress is quite active on her social media sharing glimpses of her personal life often with her fans. But The Voyeurs actress admitted that social media sometimes gets too toxic.
Addressing the issue, the actor once mentioned, “The fact that I am second guessing and having anxiety over posting a picture is sickening.” She added, “People need to be nicer on social media, because it is really fucked up.”
Sydney had once posted a tearful Instagram post after getting derogatory comments on Twitter about her looks. The actor with her Instagram post tried to be vocal, highlighting the detrimental side of social media that can affect one's mental health.
“Apparently I am trending on Twitter right now for being ugly,” she told her followers. “And I would never actually do this, like ever. But I think it’s really important for people to see how words actually affect people.
In 2024, in an interview with People Sydney Sweeney praised her four-pawed baby mentioning how her “canine partner” helps her during her tough times, especially when she is going through a mentally challenging phase.
"My dog, Tank, really is so important in my own self-care process," Sweeney says. "Whether it is just playing with her, taking her to the dog park or taking her on a walk, it just lets me take a moment and unplug from everything else.”
Sydney Sweeny is again in spotlight as Cassie as the long-waited season 3 of Euphoria premired in April 2026, sees the character’s navigating adulthood with a significant time jump. The HBO series has returned this time with its tremendously intensifying plot and characters.
