More opportunities will empower vloggers: Aashna Hegde
It is evident that social media and content sharing platforms have been key in attracting young talent with creative out of the box thinking. While it was not a cakewalk for Aashna Hegde when she decided to make her own space as a YouTube vlogger, the fashion enthusiast find it to be an extremely satisfying feeling to carve her own niche.
Excerpts from our recent conversation with Aashna during her visit to the city....
How did your journey begin into YouTubing?
I used to watch a lot of videos ever since my early years, later I also started following some vloggers on YouTube avidly because I found their work very inspiring and engaging. While I’ve been lucky to get to pursue my passion as a career, though it's been really difficult to keep the faith at many points in my journey.
What's your idea of fashion? As such, it almost completely depends on your personal taste, and to me fashion is also a great deal about comfort and feeling good in what I wear. It's an extremely important facet of your persona because it expresses so much about you.
What were the challenges you faced in establishing yourself?
Initially I struggled a lot in finding my own niche, but now I have overcome the challenges as I was a little all over the place! So one might say that I am now a controlled mess (laughs..)
Who do you look up to for fashion inspiration.?
I think right now my fashion inspirations are Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber. Both inspire me a lot.
What’s the most challenging aspect of being a celebrity YouTuber?
Well, I wouldn’t say I’m a celebrity. But one of the challenges that I face being a YouTuber is sometimes balancing how much of my personal life I should put out there for my viewers! That still remains a little uncertain aspect of my job.
A lot of young faces are coming up in this sector. What's your advice to them ?
Give it all you’ve got in you, work really hard and even if you fall, you’ll certainly slowly learn to pick yourself up with time. Always remember that success is not easily achieved.
How passionate are you about your work? What drives you?
I am extremely passionate about what I am doing and I think that’s what drives me to give my best everytime. Also the love that I receive from people has been a huge source of motivation to me.
What according to you is the 'unique power' of social media?
Certainly the reach that it has, one can make his or her voice heard globally!
What more can be done to empower vloggers and web creators? I think more and more opportunities would really empower them in the best way.
Any offer of getting into a web-series as well?
Well, nothing as of yet.
