6 underrated artists that deserved more love and appreciation

In the world of arts, names like Leonardo da Vinci, van Gogh and Picasso are known by everyone. They are like the epitomes of exceptional art and their name is known by every little kid. But, in that same art world, where many shot to fame, there remain artists who are not known by all and are extremely underrated. And although when you would see their painting there would be a hint of ‘Oh, I have seen this somewhere’, you would not be able to point out who made it like you would to van Gogh’s ‘Starry Nights’.

A British landscape painter, Turner is now famous for the absolute beauty in which he painted the skies. The deep blues, the pretty white and the subtle hints of orange and red are truly breathtaking to see even through a computer screen. He used lots of bright colours and different textures, which was pretty unusual for his time.
One thing that everybody would like about Turner is that he gave the morning, evening and the night skies a very surreal glow. Be it with the help of orange and yellow or with the deep blue and black, the atmosphere in his paintings is something that would put anyone in awe.

Popularly known just as Caravaggio, Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio was an artist from Italy's Baroque era and is famous for using the light and shadow technique (chiaroscuro) in exceptional ways. He has painted scenes that are intense and sometimes controversial but definitely a sight to behold. Caravaggio's paintings look very real and were different from what people were used to at the time or the type of paintings that were painted during his time. He was very good at using Chiaroscuro and his paintings were incredibly deep and powerful.

Very few people wuld have heard this name, but Claude Monet is actually known as the founding father of Impressionism.
Monet was the man who changed how artists used colours and light when they painted nature and the world. He's most famous for his paintings of water lilies, haystacks, and cathedrals, which show light and nature in a simple, special way. The beauty of nature, the softness of the flower petals, the realism of the haystacks, the beauty of the woman who stood with a parasol, and whatnot. Monet sure was a master painter and deserves much more love and appreciation than he got.

A painter with art as strange as his appearance, Salvador Dali was mysterious in all the true senses. He painted strange and yet dreamy pictures that almost seemed like some sort of illusion. His paintings, with the melting clocks, distorted figures and twisted landscapes, still amaze and puzzle people all over the world.
These strange images are part of a style called surrealism, which although is now appreciated a lot, but during Dali’s time remained out of the box and not very well accepted.

The very amazing Norwegian artist who is now known for his iconic painting ‘The Scream’ is still very underrated when it comes to his other works. Munch’s paintings are full of strong feelings about things like love, death, and what it means to be human. Munch used bright colours and strange shapes in his art, which became a part of expressionism technique. From the swirls in the sky to the haunting scream of the woman, Munch’s art remains very underappreciated.

The man responsible for the iconic ‘The Kiss’ series, Gustav Klimt is very very underrated even today. Klimt often used shiny gold backgrounds and lots of decoration in his paintings, making his subjects look like they were from a dreamy world. The woman with beautiful eyes and rosy cheeks and figures that seemed to twist and turn in awkward positions just to be close to each other, Klimt’s paintings are a must-view for everyone.
