Celebrating the life of a musician with a heartfelt tribute concert to her music and personality
There are certain times when we miss a person because we have lost them to the test of time and to certain conditions. And when we know what they loved or what they wished to do in life, giving them a tribute in the same manner is the best way to remember them and keep them in our memories.
And so on February 12, 2025, a tribute concert was organised for Kavya Singh, a musician, vocalist and composer, as a means to celebrate her life and music. Done in the form of a tribute by her musical family at the Anirudh Varma Collective and other friends who are part of the Indian music industry, the event featured Nikhil Rao, guitarist of the legendary band – Indian Ocean, who had collaborated with Kavya in 2022 on a track titled – Bihag.
The concert featured Kavya’s original compositions – some released and one unreleased track which was supposed to be a collaboration with singer-songwriter, Divyam Sodhi. The show also featured compositions and tracks that Kavya sang and featured on with the Anirudh Varma Collective in the past 7 years.
The soulful renditions and the concert began with compositions that Kavya had sung between 2017-22, moving to her originals and a collection of some special covers that Kavya had presented over the past few years. The concert concluded with her latest singles with the Collective – Mausam and Naseeba, the latter written by her father – Mr Amar Syali.
She is survived by her father Amar Syali who has written a few songs for her including - Baat, Udd Jaun, Kaafila, Kahaani & Naseeba, her mother Dr Shailu Singh, a loving sister Navya and her music fraternity.
