Spiti Valley, Himachal Pradesh

Spiti Valley, located in Himachal Pradesh, is a remote region known for its beautiful landscapes and vibrant Buddhist heritage. The Spiti Valley is known for its eco-friendly activities such as trekking, camping, and river rafting. The night sky here is absolutely stunning, especially near villages such as Langza, Kibber, and Hikkim. These locations provide the perfect opportunity for stargazing and astrophotography. Visitors can also go to the ancient monasteries nearby such as Key, Tabo, and Dhankar, or visit the beautiful Chandra Taal Lake. One should definitely visit here between April and October for a more enhanced experience.

Pangong Lake, Ladakh

Located at a high altitude, Pangong Lake is also known as Pangong Tso and has shimmering blue waters that will definitely leave you awe-struck! The high, steep mountains and lake attract a lot of tourists from around the world and provide them with unique camping experiences. The low light pollution and tranquil environment all contribute to making it a perfect place for stargazing. Many eco-friendly camps or tents have been placed near the lake. During the night, tourists can witness some of the most stunning sights with constellations and meteor showers. One should definitely visit here between April and October.

Nubra Valley, Ladakh

The Nubra Valley is a high-altitude valley located in Leh of Ladakh, between the Karakoram and Ladakh ranges. This is an exceptional campsite because of its high altitude, dry climate, and low light pollution. This cold desert valley provides spectacular views of the stars as it has some of the darkest skies on earth. The valley is accessible via the Khardung La Pass from Leh and is well known for its unique combination of natural beauty, culture, history, and adventure. There are many campsites here that offer telescopes and guided sessions about stargazing.

Jaisalmer Desert Camps, Rajasthan

Located in the Thar Desert in the Golden City of Jaisalmer, with camps that are the perfect blend of a serene environment and a stargazing experience along with the culture of Rajasthan. A nocturnal environment with clear skies and no pollution makes it perfect for stargazing. Visitors can experience camel safaris, bonfires, Rajasthani folk music, and traditional dance under a blanket of stars.

Dayara Bugyal, Uttarakhand

A high-altitude meadow located in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. The meadow is famous for serene landscape views, beautiful flowers, snow in winter, and outstanding clear night skies. The remote location, low light pollution, and panoramic view of the mountains make it the perfect stargazing destination. One can reach here by trekking and can also look at the star-studded sky in the night while camping here.
