5 hill stations with nonstop flights from Delhi

Hill station escapes are something that a mountain person will always crave, no matter how many times they have been to hill stations. But, if you have less time to spare, it can become difficult to plan one. Also, long, winding road trips aren’t everyone’s cup of tea. The good news? If you are in Delhi, you won’t have to always need to spend hours on highways or serpentine roads to reach the mountains. Thanks to direct flights, you can opt to take and land directly at your favorite hill station in just a few hours. Here are five hill stations you can fly directly to from Delhi, saving both time and energy. Keep reading this space for such news.
Disclaimer: Always check flight routes in advance, as some services may be suspended during the monsoon season.

Dharamshala

Tucked in the Kangra Valley of Himachal Pradesh, Dharamshala is where the serenity of the mountains meets Tibetan culture. While driving takes nearly 10–12 hours, a quick Delhi to Dharamshala flight lands you at Kangra Airport in under two hours.
Once there, the snow-capped Dhauladhar range, Dalai Lama’s residence in McLeod Ganj, or trek up to Triund for a taste of the Himalayas will be highlights of the itinerary of this place. Flying cuts out exhaustion, so you’ll arrive fresh and ready to dive straight into mountain bliss.

3/6

Dehradun

Dehradun is one of the easiest hill escapes from Delhi. The drive may be around six hours, but a flight whisks you to Jolly Grant Airport in just about an hour. From here, heading further up into Mussoorie, or Dhanaulti, won’t be a difficult task. Even if someone decides to stay put in Dehradun, they will find charming cafés, colonial architecture, and natural caves like Robber’s Cave to explore. Choosing to fly saves you precious hours, especially if you’re planning a short weekend getaway.

4/6

Leh

For those who dream of barren mountains, turquoise lakes, and monasteries perched on cliffs, Leh is the ultimate destination. Reaching Ladakh by road from Delhi is an adventure, and can take two to three days across high passes. Thankfully, a direct flight from Delhi reaches Leh in just about 90 minutes. This makes all the difference, especially since Leh sits at a high altitude. Arriving by air allows travellers to conserve energy for acclimatisation and save energy for exploration rather than draining it on the road. Once there, there are endless options to explore.

5/6

Shimla

The Delhi to Shimla road trip is famous, but often exhausting, taking 7–9 hours depending on traffic. Those who need to save those extra time, there is Shimla Airport at Jubbarhatti, where direct flights from Delhi reach in less than 90 minutes. Flying here means saving the time and energy to check out colonial-era hotels, stroll along the Ridge, or take the toy train ride to Kalka without battling the fatigue of mountain roads.

6/6

Aizawl

Those craving a hill escape with a dash of the unusual, Aizawl in Mizoram is a fantastic choice. Direct flights from Delhi will reach Lengpui Airport in about 3 hours, saving travellers from multiple layovers or complicated road routes. Perched on ridges at around 1,100 meters, Aizawl offers panoramic views of green hills, bustling local markets, and a glimpse into Mizo culture.
