India is home to some incredible and beautiful royal palaces, which has been attracting people from across the globe. Each of these palaces have their own unique charm, history and architecture. These palaces offer a peek inside the rich history of India as their grandeur speaks for itself.

Mysore Palace, Mysuru

Also known as Amba Vilas Palace, Mysore Palace is located in the historical city of Mysore, Karnataka. This palace is famous for its beautifully carved doors, Durbar hall and stunning illuminated bulbs (over 97,000). Set in its backdrop are the Chamundi Hills. Its vibrant stained glass, mosaic floors, and majestic domes make it a timeless symbol of Mysuru’s regal heritage.

Amber Palace, Jaipur

Also known as ‘Amer Fort,’ Amber Palace is located in the majestic Pink City, Jaipur. It was built by Raja Man Singh I and is known for its intricate mirror work, large courtyards, and sprawling gardens. The palace is also recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Some of the prime attractions here include Sheesh Mahal (mirror palace), Diwan-I-Aam, and Diwan-I-Khas. Light and sound shows are held every evening to narrate the fort’s rich history.

Bangalore Palace, Bengaluru

Bangalore Palace is an iconic palace built in Tudor style. The palace boasts intricate wood carvings, floral motifs, and vintage royal photographs alongside its turrets, high battlements, and large gardens. It is laid out over 454 acres and comprises 35 rooms, a swimming pool, and a large ballroom, among other large gardens. It served as the Wadiyar family's residence but now is used as a venue for exhibitions, concerts, and cultural performances.

Gwalior Fort, Gwalior

Gwalior Fort is among the most iconic and historic forts in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. It is also referred to as the “Gibraltar of India” due to its strategic location and imposing architecture. Built over a millennium ago, this fort has witnessed major dynasties and legends. It now serves as a very popular tourist attraction, offering a glimpse of the past. Overlooking the city from a steep hill, it offers panoramic views and stands as a symbol of Gwalior’s rich heritage.

Lake Palace, Udaipur

Set in the heart of Lake Pichola in Udaipur, Lake Palace was built in 1746 by Maharana Jagat Singh II as a royal summer retreat. This white marble palace appears to float on water. It showcases exquisite Rajput architecture with intricate carvings, strong white pillars, and large courtyards. This palace looks magical at night when it glows under the moonlight , radiating beautifully on the lake’s surface.

Umaid Bhawan, Jodhpur

Umaid Bhawan needs no introduction. This magnificent royal palace is located in the Blue City, Jodhpur. The palace is noted for its rich architecture and was constructed during the reign of Maharaja Umaid Singh in the 1920s. It is renowned for its Indo-Saracenic architecture, intertwined with the elements of Mughal architecture and Western styles. It took nearly 15 years to complete the construction of this royal architecture. The royal clan still lives inside while one portion of the palace is transformed into a luxury hotel. Another section of the palace serves as a museum showcasing the imperial history and artifacts
