6 scenic places around Coorg for that ultimate South Indian Holiday

A visit to South India is always fun, but when it comes to planning, a lot of brainstorming happens to ensure that we don’t miss that vibe in the trip. To sort this, here we bring to you Coorg, and places around it to at least start the initial phase of planning. And Coorg, often dubbed the Scotland of India, is as dreamy as one can think, with a huge blanket of coffee plantations, misty hills, and rivers that can make anyone forget the hustle and bustle for some time, and relax. Plus, the magic doesn’t stop here at Coorg. Just a short drive in any direction and you’ll find scenic spots that make for the ultimate South Indian holiday. Buckle up, adventure (and photo ops) await, pure bliss.

2/7

Abbey Falls

Tucked away amid lush coffee estates, Abbey Falls is situated near Madikeri where visitors get to witness the dramatic scene of water plunging, and greenery surrounded in full bloom. The trek to reach it is short but sweet, and during the monsoon months, the place is pure drama. Do take a raincoat in case required.

3/7

Talakaveri

Perched atop the Brahmagiri Hills, Talakaveri is the birthplace of the sacred Kaveri River. Misty mornings, rolling hills, and a tiny temple that feels like it’s from a story book. This place is both serene and picturesque, and if the timing of the visit is right, the sunrise paints the entire valley in shades of gold and pink, a sight to behold indeed.

4/7

Nagarhole National Park

If wildlife thrills are your jam, Nagarhole National Park is calling. Tigers, elephants, leopards, and monkeys roam freely here, while visitors get to cruise along in a jeep safari. Even if you don’t spot a tiger, the lush forests, winding trails, and occasional elephant photobomb are enough to make you feel like the star of a nature documentary.

5/7

Dubare Elephant Camp

Who wouldn’t want to play with the gentle elephants? Dubare Elephant Camp lets visitors feed, bathe, and interact with them, whereas the lovely riverbanks, chirping birds, and sheer scale of the animals make every selfie epic. Get ready for some very wet and very enthusiastic elephant splashes.

6/7

Kushalnagar

This quaint town is a blend of scenic serenity and cultural charm. The Namdroling Monastery, aka the Golden Temple, adds a dash of color against the green backdrop. Sip a coffee, stroll by the river, and soak in the peaceful vibes, Kushalnagar is Coorg’s chill, meditative cousin.

7/7

Bylakuppe

Bylakuppe, one of those Tibetan settlements, which is a feast for the senses. Monasteries, fluttering prayer flags, and rolling hills create a surreal atmosphere. Wander through local markets, admire traditional architecture, and enjoy panoramic views that make you question if you accidentally stepped into another country.
Whether it’s waterfalls, wildlife, elephants, or serene monasteries, the region around Coorg has a little bit of everything. So pack your bags, charge your camera, and prepare for a South Indian holiday where every turn is Instagram-worthy and every hill hides a story. Because here, even nature knows how to put on a show.
