Are people not visiting Goa this New Year? Here's the truth
It’s a common fact that Goa is one of the prime destinations for New Year Celebrations. Merrymakers not only in India but from across the globe wait for this time to visit Goa, as it is considered a hub for party lovers! However, things seem to be little different this year according to a video that has gone viral on social media platform X. The video shows Goa’s roads which quite surprisingly are empty during the peak New Year season.
However, another X user, Shajan Samuel, called it, "False information. Goa is fully packed."
To which, Bhardwaj responded by sharing another video on December 29. It also showed Goa’s empty market and wrote, "For those calling me a liar. This was last night on roads that used to be totally jam-packed around New Year."
Generally, Christmas and New Year are two of the most-awaited periods for Goa as during this time the place sees maximum tourists. It is also known as the ‘peak season’ and Goa remains completely packed with merrymakers from all over the world. From beaches and hotels, every inch of Goa remains jam packed. But as per the videos surfacing on social media, this year, something looks not right.
This decline in the number of tourists is absolutely shocking. As per numbers that have come after a report from CEIC Data earlier this year, it shows a major dip in visitors to Goa. As per CEIC, only 1.5 million foreign tourists visited Goa in 2023, which shows a huge fall from the 8.5 million who visited in 2019.
On this note, let’s have a look at 5 top beaches in Goa to visit in 2025:
Baga Beach: Baga Beach is one of the prime destinations, especially during the New Year. The beach offers vibrant nightlife, beach parties, and water sports. Its numerous shacks and bars make it perfect for those looking to celebrate the New Year in a festive way. Expect fireworks and music!
Anjuna Beach: Anjuna is noted for its bohemian charm and attracts visitors from across the globe. The beach hosts an array of beach parties, live music events, and vibrant markets, making it a great spot to ring in the New Year with a relaxed vibe.
Candolim Beach: Candolim Beach offers a more serene and peaceful setting for those looking to enjoy a quiet New Year's celebration by the sea. Enjoy beautiful sunset views and a calm atmosphere.
Colva Beach: Colva Beach is known for its lively atmosphere and the beach is ideal for those who want a balance of peace and celebration, offering both quiet beach strolls and exciting New Year’s parties.
Vagator Beach: Vagator Beach offers stunning views of cliffs and serene waters, attracting both partygoers and nature lovers. During the New Year, the beach comes alive with music festivals, outdoor parties, and celebrations under the stars.
