Dubai Airports confirms limited resumption of flight operations on March 2 to help stranded passengers
In a recent update, Dubai Airports has announced limited flight operations resumption at its two main aviation centres, Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC). The airports have allowed a limited operation this evening, Monday 2 March 2026.
The announcement comes after disruption to aviation in the UAE, which is triggered by a regional security tensions. It had led authorities to temporarily close UAE airspace and suspend flights at both the airports at Dubai for safety reasons.
As per recent official statements from Dubai Airports and confirmed by multiple verified news sources, a limited number of flights are operating this evening. There are social media videos showing some people landing in India from Dubai with operations carefully managed.
Official advisory for travellers
In its advisory, Dubai Media Office wrote,
“Dubai Airports confirms that a limited resumption of operations will begin today evening, 2 March, with a small number of flights permitted to operate from Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International (DWC). Travellers are advised not to proceed to DXB or DWC unless they have been contacted directly by their airline with a confirmed departure time.”
This guidance shows that the ongoing resumption remains very limited and it is mostly for stranded passengers. A number of airlines have already re-scheduled or confirmed directly with passengers.
Airlines and Flight Operations
Local carriers including Emirates, Etihad Airways and flydubai have confirmed to operate a limited number of flights from Dubai tonight. The priority is repatriation and previously rebooked passengers. Emirates has specifically noted that travellers with existing bookings will receive direct communication about confirmed times.
Despite renewed movements this evening, the broader UAE airspace situation remains fluid, and authorities have made it clear that full commercial flight operations have not yet been started.
Apparently, Dubai Airports had suspended all flights from both DXB and DWC on 28 February 2026 due to regional tensions. The phased reopening of limited operations this evening marks the first step toward restoring aviation services.
