India to operate 58 flights to Gulf today to aid stranded passengers amid West Asia airspace disruptions: What we know so far
Indian airlines are ramping up operations to the Gulf region on March 4, as authorities work to ease the travel crisis triggered by the ongoing conflict in parts of West Asia. With thousands of passengers affected by widespread airspace restrictions and flight suspensions, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has announced a fresh schedule of special and regular services to facilitate the movement of stranded travellers.
In an official statement posted on X, the Ministry of Civil Aviation (@MoCA_GoI 10:43 PM March 3, 2026) said:
“In view of the evolving airspace situation in parts of West Asia, a total of 1,221 flights by Indian carriers and 388 flights by foreign carriers have been cancelled to date. To facilitate the movement of stranded passengers, 24 flights are being operated by Indian carriers today. Further, Indian carriers are planning 58 flights on 4th March, including 30 by IndiGo and 23 by Air India and Air India Express. Passengers are advised to check the latest flight status directly with their respective airlines before proceeding to the airport and to rely only on official sources for updates.”
According to the ministry, Indian carriers are planning to operate 58 flights between India and key Gulf destinations on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. Of these, 30 flights will be operated by IndiGo, while 23 will be run by Air India and Air India Express. The remaining flights are expected to be operated by other Indian carriers as part of coordinated efforts to restore connectivity.
The disruptions stem from restricted and partially closed airspace in sections of West Asia, forcing airlines to either cancel flights or reroute long-haul and ultra-long-haul services. The ministry further noted that Indian carriers have made calibrated schedule adjustments, progressively operating long-distance flights through alternative routes that avoid sensitive areas.
So far, a total of 1,221 flights operated by Indian carriers and 388 by foreign airlines have been cancelled due to the evolving situation. The scale of cancellations has impacted both outbound and inbound international traffic, particularly on high-demand India–Gulf corridors that serve business travellers, migrant workers, and families.
Travelers are advised to check with their respective airlines regarding the status of flights before moving towards the airport. It is also advised to rely only on official announcements, as further schedule changes cannot be ruled out in the coming days.
