The Ostrich is the largest bird in the world and also the heaviest. This bird grows up to 2.7 metres in height and weighs over 150 kg. This is a giant bird in the world and is found in the savannas and deserts of Africa. This flightless bird is a great runner and can reach a top speed of 70 km/h.

Southern Cassowary – Northern Australia and New Guinea

The remarkable Southern Cassowary is among the heaviest and most unusual birds in the world. This large flightless bird can reach heights of up to 1.8 metres and weigh more than 70 kg. It is native to the tropical rainforests of New Guinea and Australia. Known for its vivid blue neck and the distinctive helmet-like casque atop its head, the cassowary is instantly recognisable. Despite its imposing size, sightings are rare because it prefers to live deep within dense rainforest habitats.
