Ram Madhav suggested on Saturday that no transformation is painless and problems being faced by people since demonetisation are worth the trouble in view of the “great future” that lies ahead.
Speaking at the
Times Lit Fest
, he said that most Indians stand by the government’s decision and there was no confusion about the merits of the move except for a few political parties whose opposition to the move is “mere rhetoric for political ends”.
"We have political equality but there is no socio-economic equality. We need to think about this aspect of our society," Madhav said.
He said that “neo-intellectual untouchability, practised by liberal intellectuals”, is a threat to the pluralistic idea of democracy. “Ironically, only a section of society controls it... such people should shed the notion that they represent the nation," Madhav said.
The senior BJP functionary said the country has been successful in producing many doctors and engineers, but “we have failed to produce good human beings”. He said that the RSS believes in making people great and the rest will follow automatically.
Leaving no ambiguity about his party’s position on the existing structure of reservation, he said that the country needs the quota system so that inequality in society is eradicated. He said that the makers of the Constitution, including Ambedkar, had suggested reservation for 10 years but it has been continued as the desired goal of empowering the underprivileged, mainly dalits, has not been achieved.
