Anand Mahindra’s Mumbai abode: The residence that blends history, simplicity, and timeless design

Anand Mahindra’s house in Mumbai, known as Goolestan or Om Arc, is not only a luxury abode but also a very personal and historical living space. The house, located in South Mumbai, epitomizes legacy, simplicity and architectural continuity, as opposed to luxury and extravagance. Here are some features of this heritage house, which beautifully reflects timeless design, cultural heritage, and understated elegance.

Prestigious location with timeless appeal

Located on Nepean Sea Road, one of the most elite residential destinations in Mumbai, this house enjoys a very prestigious location, overlooking the Arabian Sea. The area is renowned for its exclusiveness, lush surroundings, and very low-density development. Such a plot of land is hard to find today, and hence this house not only represents luxury but also carries immense significance in the context of Mumbai’s real estate scenario.

Heritage home with family roots

The bungalow, which spans an area of approximately 13,000 square feet, is an epitome of horizontal luxury, which is hard to find in Mumbai. Unlike modern apartments, it offers open spaces, is low-rise, and is designed in such a manner that it offers privacy and ventilation. The bungalow is of immense family importance because it was originally occupied by Anand Mahindra’s ancestors as tenants, and later they purchased it to make it their permanent residence. In addition, it is also the birthplace of Anand Mahindra, which links it with the Mahindra family.

A blend of space, privacy, and natural living

One of the defining aspects of the home is its openness and connection with nature. With generous open areas and a layout designed for ventilation, the residence offers a calm and private environment. In contrast to crowded urban living, it provides a sense of peace and exclusivity that is increasingly rare in Mumbai.

Philosophy of preservation over modernisation

While all other luxury homes have undergone tremendous redevelopment, the Goolestan, or the Om Arc has managed to retain its original look. The focus here has not been on making it a modern-day skyscraper, but rather on retaining its heritage value. This, in itself, is a very important factor that reveals a philosophy that values legacy and simplicity.

Anand Mahindra’s Mumbai Home is a rare find in terms of luxury living. While other luxury homes try to reflect luxury through scale and modernism, Anand Mahindra's home reflects the need for heritage value, family roots, and simplicity. This is a significant aspect in terms of luxury living in a rapidly changing world.
