South Delhi’s costliest streets: Where homes are valued in hundreds of crores

South Delhi is one of India’s most prestigious residential regions as most of the diplomats, business person, industrialists, celebs, and political leaders won private residences here. The area is clean, green, and dotted with sprawling villas which is why the belt ranks among the world’s most exclusive real estate addresses. The demand is high but supply is limited. In a market where property is a status symbol and investment, South Delhi’s top lanes continue to be prime global addresses when it comes to exclusivity.

On this note, a look at five most famous real estate streets and neighbourhoods in South Delhi, renowned for their exclusivity and global appeal.

Prithviraj Road

The “Billionaires’ Row”, Prithviraj Road is set in the heart of Lutyens’ Delhi. The street is synonymous with ultra-luxury real estate and stretches from the Taj Mansingh to Safdarjung Tomb. It's an iconic address and owning a house here is more of a status symbol. The road is home to some historic bungalows and sprawling gardens. Most of the homes here are owned by political leaders, industrialists, and celebrities. Houses here rarely show in listings but when they do they demand several crores.

Shanti Niketan

Then there is Shanti Niketan. The tree-lined roads of Shanti Niketan have a different kind of charm. The houses are quieter, more residential. The street was developed for senior government officials. But today it is home to elite executives, diplomats, and rich families. Unlike some busier South Delhi localities, Shanti Niketan offers a more personal space. The market here is defined by spacious bungalows.

Jor Bagh

Jor Bagh is the best example of when heritage charm meets elite living. The street is set close to Lodhi Gardens, Safdarjung Tomb, and Khan Market, making it a star attraction in the world of real estate. What sets the region apart are the independent villas, colonial houses, and greenery. For decades, this area has appealed to diplomats, and elite families, making the prices of houses in crores.

5/6

Vasant Vihar and Palam Marg

Vasant Vihar is among South Delhi’s most luxurious neighbourhoods. Inside is Palam Marg which stands out as a particularly coveted lane housing a number of embassies and high-profile residences. The street is about wide roads and large plots. In recent years, high-value land transactions valued at hundreds of crores, have increased the investment appeal of the street.

Greater Kailash (GK)

Greater Kailash (GK) needs no introduction. While not a single street, Greater Kailash (GK) is particularly GK-I and GK-II are South Delhi’s most noted and prestigious real estate corridors. The M-Block Market is quite a rage among rich shoppers. GK is a beautiful combination of colourful urban life with elite neighbourhood status. It is a favourite street among global expats, business professionals, and affluent Indians.
