Rajpal Yadav and Radha's enduring love story: Defying cultural differences, 13-year age gap and family doubts

Rajpal Yadav and Radha's love story

In a world where celebrity breakups are as common as morning coffee, there is something deeply refreshing about a couple that actually sticks it out. We usually see Rajpal Yadav as the master of high-energy comedy, but behind the scenes, his own life is no less than a movie script. He recently sat down with Curly Tales and shared the details of his 23-year marriage to his wife, Radha.

It’s not just a story of "happily ever after"—it’s a look at how a Canadian woman and a Bollywood actor bridged a massive cultural and age gap to build something that actually lasts.

A Canadian twist of fate

Back in 2003, Rajpal was in Canada filming 'The Hero'. Fate (and a mutual friend) stepped in, and he met Radha. At the time, neither of them thought a casual chat would lead to a lifetime together.

"We didn’t know then that we would get married," Radha shared. What followed was a gruelling 10-month-long distance stretch. Anyone who’s ever tried to manage a relationship across time zones knows how draining it can be, but they made it work. Eventually, Radha took a massive leap of faith, moved to India, and they tied the knot that same year.

Defying the "age gap" skeptics: Rajpal Yadav and Radha's 13 years age gap relationship
Their relationship wasn't exactly an easy sell to everyone. With a 13.5-year age difference, Radha’s parents were understandably worried. In many cultures, a gap like that feels like a red flag, raising questions about whether the two people are even in the same stage of life.

However, Rajpal and Radha didn’t argue; they just stayed consistent. Over time, they proved that their connection wasn’t a phase. Twenty-three years later, they’ve effectively silenced the doubters. It’s a good reminder that while age is a factor, shared values and a similar sense of humour are the real "glue" in a marriage.

Support that goes beyond the script

One of the coolest parts of their dynamic is how they handled Radha’s ambitions. Since they married when she was quite young, her education was still a work in progress. Rajpal didn’t expect her to just settle into a traditional role; instead, he pushed her to finish what she started. "I made sure she completed her education after we got married," Rajpal said.

Radha didn't just get a degree; she leaned into interior design, studying in London and Dubai to sharpen her craft. In a world where one partner's career often swallows the other's, seeing them champion each other’s personal growth is genuinely inspiring. It shows that a strong partnership doesn't require anyone to shrink themselves.

The secret to their marriage: Humour and wardrobes

If you want to know how a couple stays together for two decades, look at the "mundane" stuff. Rajpal let slip a hilarious secret: for the last 23 years, he has only worn clothes that Radha buys for him.

Because Rajpal is, let’s say, "compact," finding the right fit can be a challenge. Radha once even had to shop in the kids' section to find something that worked—and it fit perfectly, the couple shared! They laugh about it now, and it’s those tiny, quirky rituals that make a relationship feel like home. If you can’t laugh at your husband wearing kids' clothes, what’s even the point?

The big picture

Rajpal and Radha’s story isn't just "celebrity gossip." It’s a bit of a blueprint for anyone navigating an unconventional relationship. Whether it’s a cultural divide or an age gap, they’ve shown that empathy and a bit of wit can weather just about any storm—including legal headlines and public scrutiny.

They’re a reminder that love isn't about finding someone who is exactly like you; it’s about finding someone who is willing to grow with you.
