Lord Hanuman is considered to be an incarnation of Lord Shiva. He was born to Vanar Raj Kesari and Mother Anjani. The sole purpose of his birth was to serve Lord Shri Ram. He is an ardent devotee of Lord Shree Ram. According to the Hindu Scriptures, he is still present on earth as he is an immortal or chiranjeevi. Lord Hanuman Ji has several names such as Bajrangbali, Sundar, Maruti Nandan, Pavan Putra, Anjani Nandan and Sankat Mochan. He is depicted as powerful, strong and courageous and there is nothing which is impossible for him to do as he is the owner of Ashta Siddhi and Nav Nidhi.

It is believed that one who worship lord Hanuman, he bestow his devotees with great success and happiness. Lord Hanuman is the best example of Loyalty and devotion.

This festival is celebrated in India with great grandeur and people offer prayers to Lord Hanuman in different ways. Devotees observe fast on this day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Lord Hanuman. Some visit temples and organise food stalls and distribute food among needy and poor people and some organise Sundar Kaand Paath, bhajans and kirtans.
