Goddess Sati reborn as Goddess Parvati to marry Lord Shiva but Lord Shiva did not accept her. Goddess Parvati penanced for several years in order to purify her senses, activate her chakras so that she could become eligible to marry Lord Shiva and to help her, Lord Vishnu asked her to tie a Rakhi on his wrist, so that as her brother he could remove all obstacles coming her way and Vishnu also helped her to make Shivlingam which she was unable to build alone. Lord Vishnu performed all the ceremonies of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva's marriage which were supposed to be done by the bride’s brother.


Raksha Bandhan 2022 Story from History
The festival of Raksha Bandhan in Bundelkhand gives a unique message of communal harmony. Maharani Laxmi Bai in the revolution of 1857, she had sought help from Nawab Ali Bahadur by sending a Rakhi. Nawab Ali Bahadur accepted the Rakhi and gave her the status of his sister. He had reached Jhansi along with his 10,000 soldiers to fight against Firangis in order to honor the sister’s Rakhi. Nawab Ali Bahadur was the son of Bajirao Peshwa and Mastani and he fulfilled his responsibility as a brother and helped Rani Laxmi Bai on her call to fight against the firangis.


Raksha Bandhan 2022 Rituals

1. All women and girls wake up early in the morning.

2. Wear nice beautiful clothes and dresses.

3. Some people tie Rakhi to Laddoo Gopal Ji also before commencing the rituals.

4. Women observe fast on this day.

5. They decorate a plate with kumkum, rice, sweets and Rakhi.

6. First they put tilak on their brother's forehead and tie Rakhi on their right wrist.

8. After that offer a piece of sweet to their brother.

9. Brothers in return give a present or gift to their sisters as a token of affection or respect.

10. Younger brothers even take blessings from their sisters by touching their feet.

11. Sisters also gift something to their brothers such as Clothes, Wallet, any Gadget which their brother likes.

12. Girls can break their fast after Rakhi celebration.

13. Women even prepare delicious satvik food as they observe fast.
