In TN Saraswathi Puja is celebrated on the 9th day of Navarathri when the students read their books and put them in front of the Idols of Gods and have the rest of the day free. Next day on Vijayadasami day they wake up, take shower and take their books and read. On Vijayadasami day also young children first learn to write tamil alphabets. Vijayadasami day is also celebrated as Ayuda pooja where work shops are cleaned, decorated and work instruments and tools are worshipped.
