Quote of the day by Gautam Buddha: "The root of suffering is attachment"
Gautam Buddha, also known as Siddharth Gautam, who was a spiritual Guru and a philosopher. He was the founder of Buddhism. He left the luxurious life and chose to walk on the path of spirituality to attain salvation. H enlightened the world with his teachings which were given more than 2500 years ago but they are still relevant in today's world so according to him - "The root of suffering is attachment", now we will understand why did he say so and what's the meaning of this quote.
Buddha always taught that the root cause of the sufferings starts from the attachment, where you start expecting something and material craving which is the real reason of the human sufferings.
According to him, suffering is explained as Dukkha, which is not a physical pain but more than that. This suffering includes fear, emotional attachment, frustration, anxiety and dissatisfaction from life. Buddha noticed that suffering is an unavoidable part where people carry that suffering even in happy moments. This type of suffering does not come naturally, it is always come with attachment.
Attachment is not love or desire. This means when you are unable to let go of the things. This brings emotional dependence, possessions, rebellious behaviour, and expecting that people and things should remain the same just to make us satisfied and happy and we are dependent on the external things to be happy.
In today's modern world, people are running after materialistic things such as luxuries, digital world, emotional security, and constant comparison and when they don't get them, they become frustrated and depressed. Some people even reach to level where they have anxiety issues if they don't get the desired results from the things and people. Buddha's teachings always make us aware that peace has nothing to do with the materialistic world, because it comes from within. Peace is not controlling your life because it can not be controlled. You need to understand that life has its own plans and if something does not happen according to your will then it will happen by God's will so let go of the people and things that are no longer serving you in life.
