Due to the fact that Jyeshtha Amavasya falls on a Saturday, it is also a very fortunate Shani Amavasya and will be honored with great devotion throughout India. It is believed to be rewarding to perform pitru tarpan and pind daan on this specific day. This day is believed to bring peace to the departed souls. Vat Savirti Vrat will also be observed by the married Hindu women for their husband's good health and longevity. This festival is mainly celebrated in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Haryana and Punjab.
