Margashirsha Purnima 2022: Significance

According to the Hindu Scriptures, it is believed that Satyug began during this month and that is why this month is dedicated to Lord Krishna. This month was called ‘Maasonam Margashirshoham’ in the Puranas which means that no month is more auspicious than Margashirsha.

On this auspicious day of Margashirsha Purnima people perform puja and worship and get involve in other auspicious activities. People visit so many prominent religious places to take holy bathe in holy rivers like Ganga, Shipra, Yamuna and Narmada.

It is believed that on Purnima day, moon has complete control over every element on the planet. This day is also known as the 'Day of Divinity'. People worship moon on this day and offer Arghya to the moon. On this auspicious day of Margashirsha Purnima, People observe Satyanarayan fast and offer prayers to Lord Vishnu which is rewarding.

Dattatreya Jayanti is also celebrated on this propitious day of Margashirsha Purnima. Lord Dattatreya is known to be a Trimurti avatar (Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh).

Margashirsha Purnima 2022: Puja Vidhi
1. On Margashirsha Purnima, one should wake up at Brahma Muhurta.

2. Devotees visit holy places to take a dip in sacred rivers - Ganga, Yamuna, Narmada and Shipra.

3. After taking bath, must offer water (Arghya) to the Lord Sun.

4. On this sacred day one must chant Mantras - Om Namah Shivaye 108 times and Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevaye.

5. People should do charity on this day. Must donate food and clothes to the needy people.

6. One must offer water (Arghya) to the moon at night as well.

7. You can also observe fast to please the moon deity and gain peace of mind.

Remedies

1. People who are going through with mental instability, must observe satyanarayan vrat on each purnima.

2. Take blessings from your mother. Keep your mother happy.

3. Chant Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevaye 108 times daily.

4. Chant this mantra 108 times daily - 'Om Shram Shreem Shrom Saha Chandramse Namah'.

5. Worship Lord Vishnu with true devotion and dedication and offer fruits and sweets.
