Padmini Ekadashi 2026: Essential guidelines for observing the sacred vrat
Ekadashi is one of the most auspicious days in Hindu religion. The day is considered as highly auspicious to perform puja to Lord Vishnu. Devotees wait for this Ekadashi to be observed because this Ekadashi falls in every three years during Adhik Maas or Purushottam Maas. On this auspicious day, devotees observe strict fast from Ekadashi tithi to Dwadashi tithi. Devotees engage in various spiritual and religious activities and they also seek spiritual purification and divine blessings to get the salvation. During Jyeshtha Adhik Maas, Padmini Ekadashi is going to be observed on 11th day of Shukla Paksha in the month of Jyeshtha. This year, Adhik Padmini Ekadashi is going to be observed on May 27, 2026.
1. Wake up early: Its very important to wake up early in the morning during Brahma Muhurat, take bath and wear nice clean clothes.
2. Sankalp: You should have clear spiritual intentions for your fast.
3. Fasting: Observe strict fast or they can observe Phalahari fast. This totally depends upon your wish.
4. Puja: You should set up an altar and place an idol of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. Offer panchamrit, tulsi leaves and yellow flowers.
5. Chant mantras: You are advised to chant Lord Vishnu mantras to seek the blessings.
6. Recite stotrams: Devotees should recite Shri Hari Stotram and Vishnu Sahasranama.
7. Read Scriptures: You can read the holy scriptures such as Ramacharitmanas and Bhagavad Gita. This will bring peace and mental clarity in your life.
1. You should not eat grains on the day of Ekadashi. You should avoid eating rice, wheat and lentils.
2. Don not pluck tulsi leaves on the day of Ekadashi because it is considered inauspicious to pluck basil leaves on this specific day.
3. One should always avoid eating tamasik food on sacred Ekadashi day.
4. People should never drink alcohol on the holy day of Ekadashi because it will attract bad luck in life.
5. You should avoid doing oil massage as it is considered inauspicious.
6. One must avoid hair cut/nail cut on this particular day of Ekadashi.

Do's
