NEW DELHI: India continued to shine at the 4th Asian Para Games, securing more medals on Day 2 of the competition. In the women's Club Throw - F32/51 event, Ekta Bhyan won a bronze medal. Ekta, who was the previous Asian Para Games record-holder, faced a tough challenge from Iran's Parastoo Habibi, who broke the record with an attempt of 22.88m in her first throw.

Although Ekta responded with a brilliant throw of 21.66m, she couldn't reclaim the record and had to settle for bronze. Parastoo secured the gold medal, and UAE's Thekra Ahmed Saeed claimed silver.



In the men's 400m-T64 final, Ajay Kumar gave an exceptional performance with a personal best timing of 54.85s, earning him a silver medal. Saudi Arabia's Nour Mohammed set a new Asian Para Games record with a timing of 52.81s to win gold, while Thailand's Jafa Seapla took home the bronze with a timing of 55.09s.

In canoeing, Gajendra Singh won a bronze medal in the Men's VL2 final with a timing of 1:01.084s. The gold medal went to Iran's Islam Jahedi with a timing of 55.749s, and Thailand's Santi Wantawee secured the silver.

The Indian contingent at the Asian Para Games, consisting of 303 athletes, continued to excel, aiming to replicate the success of Day 1, where they ended with a total of 17 medals – 6 gold, 6 silver, and 5 bronze. The athletes' remarkable performances have showcased their dedication and skill on the international stage. India's participation in the games has been the largest contingent ever sent to the Asian Para Games, emphasizing the country's commitment to promoting para sports.

In the 2018 Asian Para Games, India sent 190 athletes and achieved a significant breakthrough, returning with a total of 72 medals, including 15 gold medals. The current performance suggests that Indian para athletes are determined to surpass their previous success and continue making their mark in the world of para sports.
