The Indian men's bridge team has successfully secured a spot in the semifinals of the Asian Games, guaranteeing themselves a medal. Unfortunately, the women's and mixed teams were eliminated from the competition in Hangzhou on Monday.

After Jyothi Yarraji's bronze medal was upgraded to silver at the Hangzhou Asian Games, India witnessed a similar incident on Monday where the third place finish in 4x400m mixed relay event turned into a second place. The quartet of Muhammed Ajmal Variyathodi, Vithya Ramraj, Rajesh Ramesh and Subha Venkatesan experienced a fortuitous turn of events as they were upgraded to the second spot due to a 'lane infringement' by the Sri Lankan 4x400m mixed relay quartet.

India's London Singh Hemam finished a disappointing 12th in the men's 1m springboard diving event at the Asian Games on Monday. London finished with total points of 207.80 to draw curtains on his campaign in the event. China's Zongyuan Wang won the gold with total points of 459.50, while another Chinese Jianfeng Peng bagged the silver scoring 442.45 points. The bronze went to Haram Woo of Korea who scored 395.95 points.

India's star squash player Joshna Chinappa faced an unexpected early exit from the women's singles event but veteran Saurav Ghosal sailed into the quarterfinals of men's singles at the Asian Games in Hangzhou on Monday. Despite her status as a medal favorite, Chinappa couldn't overcome her opponent, Heo Mingyeong of South Korea, in the pre-quarterfinals.

Unheralded Ancy Sojan also claimed a silver medal in the women's long jump.

Swapna Barman's serious allegations against Nandini Agasara after the latter won the women's heptathlon bronze medal at the ongoing Asian Games in China created a storm on Monday, forcing her to delete the post on X (earlier Twitter) where she alleged Nandini of being a transgender. Although there has been no official response so far from the Athletics Federation of India (AFI), sources say Swapna would be asked to give an explanation after reaching India.

The Indian women's kabaddi team was on Monday held to a surprising 34-34 draw by Chinese Taipei in their a Group A campain opener at the Asian Games in Hangzhou. The Indian team, throughout the contest was made to work hard and the Chinese Taipei side managed to secure a bonus point in the final raid, forcing the game to a draw.
