Chennai Smashers

fielded a club-level player against table-toppers Ahmedabad Smash Masters, they would have won too. It was that kind of a day for the Chennai team as they won all five rubbers in their

Premier Badminton League

match at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi on Sunday.

With Chennai winning all the rubbers, including their trump match and Ahmedabad losing their trump match, the scores read 6- (-1) in the former's favour. A team gets two points for a trump win, while loses 1 in case their trump player faces defeat.

For Ahmedabad, the biggest setback was loss of their icon player and former world No. 1 and current No. 6 Viktor Axelsen against Rajiv Ouseph. Axelsen's match was the trump game for Ahmedabad, which they lost 12-15, 15-7, 13-15. Axelsen, who is coming after two injuries, didn't look at his best. He not just misjudged the shuttle, but also struggled to time his shots, which resulted in hitting the net.

Bengaluru victorious

In another match of the day, Kidambi Srikanth inspired Bengaluru Raptors to a 4-3 win against Pune7Aces.
