Bangladesh vs Hong Kong, Asia Cup 2025 Highlights: Litton Das stars as Bangladesh beat Hong Kong by seven wickets

Bangladesh vs Hong Kong, Asia Cup 2025 Live Score: Bangladesh got off to a winning start in the Asia Cup 2025, registering a comprehensive seven-wicket victory over Hong Kong in their first match on Thursday.

Electing to bowl first, Litton Das’s men dominated from the outset. While spinner Mahedi Hasan began proceedings, it was the pace duo of Taskin Ahmed and Tanzim Hasan Sakib that made early inroads. Taskin dismissed opener Anshuman Rath for 4, and Tanzim bowled Babar Hayat shortly after, rattling Hong Kong’s top order.

Zeeshan Ali fought back with a steady 30 off 34 balls, while skipper Yasim Murtaza chipped in with 28 off 19, including a standout six off Tanzim. However, regular breakthroughs and Bangladesh’s disciplined attack kept Hong Kong to a modest 143 for seven.

Chasing 144, Bangladesh endured a brief slowdown after Parvez Hossain Emon’s 19-run cameo, going 33 balls without a boundary. But skipper Litton Das held firm, crafting a well-paced 59 off 39 balls. His calculated acceleration in the 15th over against Murtaza shifted momentum firmly in Bangladesh’s favour.

Partnering with Towhid Hridoy, who remained unbeaten on 35, Das put on a decisive 95-run stand for the third wicket. Though he fell short of finishing the game, Hridoy sealed victory in 17.4 overs, capping off a professional all-round display from Bangladesh.

Aizaz Khan to Litton Das, Now that's an appeal and a half for LBW. Slower cutter, coming into the batter from the off stump line. Litton looks shuffles to the off side a bit, and is totally cramped for space. Gets beaten and wears it on his front pad. A loud appeal for LBW but the umpire turns it down. Yasim Murtaza, after a short conversation with the bowler and the keeper, sends this upstairs. The UltraEdge comes up, but this is passing close to the bat and the pad, by a razor-thin margin. However, there is a clear spike when the ball is between both bat and pad. After checking the replays very closely, the third umpire could not come to a verdict. He deems that he has no conclusive evidence that the ball struck the pad first or the bat's inside edge. Hence, the on-field decision of Not Out stays.

DRINKS BREAK. A bit of a quiet phase for Bangladesh as just 12 runs have come off the last 3 overs. But with two experienced batters on the crease, the chase is still well within their control as they need 70 off the last 60 balls. 7 runs per over, with 8 wickets in hand, shouldn't be a tough job for them. However, Hong Kong, China have improved massively from the previous game and have managed to string in a few quiet overs, without conceding any boundaries. They have looked charged up with intensity on the field as well, which was missing in the previous game. But to turn this game around in their favor, they need wickets, and a couple or more in the next few overs. Yasim Murtaza (2-0-15-0) to continue after the hydration break.

Bangladesh vs Hong Kong, Asia Cup 2025 Live Score: Bangladesh began their Asia Cup 2025 campaign in style, defeating Hong Kong by seven wickets in their opening match on Thursday.

Opting to bowl first, skipper Litton Das’s side produced a disciplined performance with the ball, restricting Hong Kong to 143 for seven. Taskin Ahmed struck early by dismissing Anshuman Rath, while Tanzim Hasan Sakib removed Babar Hayat with a sharp outswinger.

Despite Zeeshan Ali’s 30 and captain Yasim Murtaza’s brisk 28, Hong Kong struggled to accelerate against Bangladesh’s balanced pace and spin attack.

In the chase, Bangladesh made a solid start through Parvez Hossain Emon before Litton Das anchored the innings with a fluent 59 off 39 balls. He found an able partner in Towhid Hridoy, who remained unbeaten on 35 as the pair added 95 runs for the third wicket.

The skipper’s aggressive stroke play in the 15th over sealed the contest, with Bangladesh cruising home in 17.4 overs for a comfortable victory.
