On the other hand, Scotland Women kept things under control. They used the windy conditions to get some swing, though their fielding was a bit messy as they shelled a few catches here and there. Once the field restrictions were lifted, they employed a barrage of spinners, making it hard for Bangladesh to score freely. The tweakers didn't let the batters off the hook and utilized the slowness of the surface to almost perfection. After a decent first ten overs, they did decently in the next half too by conceding only 64 runs taking 6 wickets, and more importantly, by giving absolutely nothing. All the bowlers had their fair share in wicket-taking but it was the late introduction of Saskia Horley who snagged a spectacular 3-fer with pretty pleasing bowling figures.

Bangladesh Women started slow and carefully, trying to get a feel for the pitch. Their openers put up a quiet 26-run stand, followed by another cautious partnership. Sobhana Monastry and Shathi Rani added 42 runs together, but the team was scoring below a run-a-ball in the first half. In dire need of acceleration, when they tried to speed things up, it led to a counter effect and wickets fell regularly, and they couldn't build a solid partnership to settle things down. The middle order too, was a bit rusty in an attempt to step on the paddle.

A brilliant bowling display by Scotland Women as they prevented Bangladesh Women from getting any sort of momentum throughout their batting. The Scottish team, the debutants to the World Cup, showed they could handle the pressure against a more experienced side. Bangladesh Women, on the other hand, would be quite disappointed with the batting as they just couldn't get into the groove.

It is referred upstairs and the replays show that Moni was unable to get back in time and she is caught short of her crease.

Horley tosses it up, full and around off, Nigar Sultana gets behind the line of the ball and pats it down the deck. Horley does well to put a dive in to her right and parries the ball to the left of mid-wicket. A bit of hesitation from the batters for the single but they decided to cross eventually. The mid-wicket fielder picks the ball up and fires an underarm throw at the bowling end but misses. Even the dive would not saved Sultana there had the throw hit.
