Pakistan vs England highlights, T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8: Harry Brook's ton seals semifinal spot as England defeat Pakistan by 2 wickets

England vs Pakistan highlights, T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8: Skipper Harry Brook produced a captain’s knock of the highest quality, smashing a breathtaking century to guide England to a thrilling two-wicket win over Pakistan in a Super 8 clash of the T20 World Cup on Tuesday. The victory made England the first team to seal a place in the semifinals of the tournament.

Chasing 165 for victory, England rode on Brook’s magnificent 100 off just 51 balls, studded with 10 fours and four sixes, to overhaul the target in 19.1 overs. It was a knock of composure, power and timing, especially after England had been rocked early by Shaheen Shah Afridi.

The left-arm pacer struck with the very first ball of the innings, removing Philip Salt for a golden duck, and soon added the prized scalp of Jos Buttler. When Jacob Bethell also fell to Shaheen, England were reduced to 35/3 inside the Powerplay.

Brook, however, stood firm. Mixing calculated aggression with clever strike rotation, he rebuilt the innings almost single-handedly. He found support in Will Jacks, who chipped in with a valuable 28 off 23 balls, including two sixes. The pair added crucial runs in the middle overs to steady the chase.

Brook reached his fifty off just 28 deliveries and continued to dominate the Pakistan attack, taking on both pace and spin with equal authority. Even as wickets fell at the other end — Tom Banton and Sam Curran departing to Usman Tariq — Brook kept England in the hunt.

Shaheen returned to complete a fine spell of 4/30, dismissing Brook in the 17th over with England still needing 10 runs. But the damage had already been done. Despite late wickets from Mohammad Nawaz, England held their nerve, with Jofra Archer finishing the job with five balls to spare.

Earlier, Pakistan posted 164/9 after electing to bat. Sahibzada Farhan top-scored with a fluent 63 off 45 balls, hitting seven fours and two sixes. He shared a 46-run stand with Babar Azam (25) and added 49 with Fakhar Zaman (25) to lay a solid platform.

At 122/3 in the 16th over, Pakistan appeared set for a bigger total. However, England struck back superbly at the death. Liam Dawson was the pick of the bowlers with 3/24, while Jamie Overton (2/26) and Jofra Archer (2/32) also chipped in with key wickets. Pakistan lost six wickets for 52 runs in the final five overs, a collapse that ultimately proved costly.

Brook’s century placed him in elite company. He became only the fourth batter to score a hundred in a T20 World Cup chase, joining Alex Hales (116* vs Sri Lanka in 2014), Chris Gayle (100* vs England in 2016) and Pathum Nissanka (100* vs Australia in 2026). It was also the third-highest individual score for England in T20 World Cups, behind Hales’ 116* and Jos Buttler’s 101*.

With this win, England extended their dominant run against Pakistan in T20 World Cups, winning all four meetings. They have also won their last six T20Is against Pakistan.

The victory marked England’s fifth consecutive semifinal appearance in the T20 World Cup (2016-26), the most by any team in tournament history. On a night of high pressure and fluctuating fortunes, it was Brook’s brilliance that ultimately separated the sides and carried England into the final four.

England vs Pakistan Live Score: Pakistan under pressure in high-stakes clash against England
Pakistan’s stop-start T20 World Cup campaign is at a crossroads. After their Super 8 opener was washed out in Colombo on Saturday, the 2009 champions now face a in a must-win situation against a team high on confidence.

England might not have believed that they were going to win their game against Sri Lanka after putting up 146 on Sunday. But a combination of poor cricket by the Lankans and some good bowling by the spinners have left the two-time champions in a relatively comfortable spot in the group.

The fact that the match was played in Pallekele, the venue of the Tuesday skirmish as well, will stand England in good stead. They have a fair understanding of the conditions, while for Pakistan it will be their first game at the venue.

There aren’t any rain threats as of now, which should be a bit of a relief for both teams, especially Pakistan. Sahibzada Farhan, their in-form opener, said that the team was not losing sleep over the washout in the previous game. “The weather is not in our hands. All I can say is that the morale of the team is pretty high,” Farhan said.

Pakistan’s batting has been a bit up and down, with their sub-par performance against India last Sunday still being cited as a cause for concern.

“In T20Is, the top three or four batsmen should be able to bat long. We were not able to do it and that’s why a batting collapse happened (against India),” Farhan said.

To add a little more solidity to the lineup, Pakistan had brought in Fakhar Zaman for the game against New Zealand, which was unfortunately washed out. It’s likely that Pakistan will persist with him, especially with the likes of offie Will Jacks, leggie Adil Rashid and left-arm spinner Liam Dawson operating for England.

England vs Pakistan Live Score: Last 5 encounters
England and Pakistan are set for a spin-dominated showdown in their respective second Super Eights clash of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on Tuesday, as the pitch is expected to assist slow bowlers.

England, the 2022 champions, have yet to display their full potential but remain unbeaten in the Super Eights. The defending side opened the stage with a dominant 51-run victory over Sri Lanka, a triumph that significantly improved their net run rate and propelled them to the top of the group standings.

The Men in Red also carry the advantage of familiarity with the conditions. They recently completed a clean sweep in a three-match T20I series at the same venue earlier this month and had previously defeated Sri Lanka in their recently concluded Super Eights fixture, giving them a psychological edge heading into the contest.

Pakistan, meanwhile, will look to exploit the pitch's slow nature with a diverse spin attack. The team’s repertoire features the enigmatic mystery spin of Usman Tariq, complemented by the talents of Saim Ayub, Abrar Ahmed, Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz.

Collectively, they could pose a significant challenge to England’s batting lineup, especially as the pitch is likely to slow further in the latter stages of the game. With conditions set to favour the bowlers, the clash promises to be a tactical battle where spin mastery may well dictate the outcome.

England vs Pakistan Live Score: Head to head
England and Pakistan are all set to square off in a high-stakes Super 8 clash at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 on Tuesday, with spin expected to play a decisive role in the contest.

The encounter promises to be a tactical battle, especially with conditions likely to assist slower bowlers as the game progresses.

England cricket team, have made a strong start to the Super 8 stage. They opened with a commanding 51-run win over Sri Lanka national cricket team, boosting their net run rate and climbing to the top of the group standings.

The Men in Red also enjoy familiarity with the conditions, having recently completed a clean sweep in a three-match T20I series at the same venue earlier this month. That, coupled with their dominant Super 8 opener, gives them valuable momentum heading into this clash.

On the other hand, Pakistan national cricket team will bank on their spin-heavy arsenal to counter England’s batting strength. The likes of Usman Tariq, Saim Ayub, Abrar Ahmed, Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz offer variety and depth in spin, which could prove crucial on a slowing surface.

With the pitch expected to deteriorate as the match wears on, the contest may well be decided by which side handles spin better under pressure.

England vs Pakistan Live Score: Hello and welcome
Hello and welcome to the Live coverage of ICC T20 World Cup Super 8s match between England and Pakistan at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele.

With the pitch expected to favour slow bowlers, both England and Pakistan are set to rely heavily on their spin attacks in Tuesday’s Super Eights clash of the T20 World Cup.

England may not have been at their explosive best so far, but the two-time champions have continued to grind out results. They began their Super Eights campaign with a convincing 51-run win over Sri Lanka, a victory that significantly improved their net run rate and pushed them to the top of the table.

Defending a modest total in that game, England adapted smartly to the conditions. Their spinners controlled the middle overs, while Jofra Archer provided key breakthroughs to spark a Sri Lankan collapse. Leg-spinner Adil Rashid and left-arm spinner Liam Dawson have formed an effective partnership, consistently striking at crucial moments.

Will Jacks has also played a vital role. While his off-spin has added balance, it is his batting contributions — 39 against Nepal, 16 versus Scotland and 53 against Italy — that have repeatedly steadied the innings.

Phil Salt returned to form with a decisive knock against Sri Lanka, batting beyond the Powerplay for the first time in the tournament. However, Jos Buttler’s lean run continues, though he has the full backing of captain Harry Brook, who is also searching for runs.

England will draw confidence from their familiarity with the venue, having swept a three-match T20I series here 3-0 earlier this month and secured their Super Eights win over Sri Lanka at the same ground.

"We still haven't had that perfect game with the bat. We haven't managed to get the starts and the big scores that we'd like," Brook said after the Sri Lanka match.

"In my eyes I see that as something coming very soon and with the likes of Jos Buttler not coming off and Jacob Bethell, myself, Tom Banton not getting big scores and we still managed to get over the line and get the job done is awesome. Hopefully rewards can come a little bit later down the line for the lads with the bat."

Pakistan, meanwhile, were left disappointed after their Super Eights opener against New Zealand was washed out, leaving them with just one point and little margin for error.

The Men in Green are expected to lean on their varied spin options on a surface that traditionally slows down as the match progresses.

Alongside the mystery spin of Usman Tariq, Pakistan boast of depth in Saim Ayub, Abrar Ahmed, Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz, a collective that could prove crucial in stifling England's batting line-up.

However, Pakistan's own batting inconsistency remains a concern, especially against quality spin.

While opener Sahibzada Farhan, who is the leading run scorer of the tournament with 220 runs from four innings, has done well, the likes of Saim Ayub and captain Salman Agha, who is capable of both anchoring and accelerating, are yet to fire.

England vs Pakistan highlights, T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8: Harry Brook’s scintillating century propelled England to a thrilling two-wicket win over Pakistan in a Super 8 clash of the T20 World Cup on Tuesday, making them the first team to confirm a semifinal spot.

Yet Brook stood firm, crafting a masterclass of timing and power with 100 off 51 balls, including 10 fours and four sixes. His calm strike rotation and aggressive shot-making kept England on course, with vital support from Will Jacks (28).

Pakistan had posted 164/9 after electing to bat, with Sahibzada Farhan top-scoring with 63. Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman contributed 25 each, but a late collapse saw them lose six wickets for 52 runs in the final five overs.
