NEW DELHI: Heather Graham, an all-rounder, has been summoned by Australia to replace fast bowler Tayla Vlaeminck, who will be unable to participate in the remainder of the Women's T20 World Cup due to a dislocated shoulder.
Vlaeminck sustained the injury while trying to prevent a boundary during Australia's dominant nine-wicket victory against Pakistan on Friday. This setback is the most recent in a series of injury challenges for the 25-year-old player.
The match against Pakistan was only Vlaeminck's second World Cup appearance and her first since 2018. She has previously undergone two ACL reconstructions, dealt with stress fractures in her foot, and experienced two dislocations of her left shoulder.
Graham, who bowls right-arm seam, will be available to play in Australia's final group match against India on Sunday and in the subsequent knockout rounds.
Australia, who have won the tournament six times, have been victorious in all three of their matches so far in the UAE as they pursue a fourth consecutive title.
However, the team is also concerned about the fitness of their captain, Alyssa Healy, who had to retire hurt while batting against Pakistan due to an injury to her right foot.
