Captain Aaron Finch scored a brilliant century as Australia ruthlessly demolished England by 64 runs at Lord's on Tuesday to march into the World Cup semi-finals.


Finch scored 100 off 116 balls to lead Australia to 285 for seven after being put in to bat at the home of cricket.

The Australian skipper hit 11 fours and 2 sixes in his knock.

"Didn't play too badly, anytime you contribute to a team win is special. I think that is the most important thing. Nice to get a hundred in a win," said man-of-the-match Finch.

"Wicket was seaming around a bit initially, Woaksey bowled a hell of a spell upfront, he bowled 7 overs in a row, we were hoping that he will quit after 5 but he kept coming. Laid a reasonable foundation with Davey (Warner). Bit more confidence when you walk out and you know you have done well against an opposition. It was nipping around, it was seaming. I think we played quite well. We were as tight as we could be and tried to cash in on the width," he said.
