NEW DELHI: Mohammad Hafeez starred with the bat as Pakistan defeated England by 14 runs at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on Monday. Hafeez cracked a sublime 84 off 62 balls, helping Pakistan score a mammoth 348/8 in 50 overs.
Put into bat after losing the loss, Hafeez arrived at the crease in the 21st over after the fall of Imam-ul-Haq. Hafeez stitched a crucial 88-run partnership with Babar Azam for the third wicket. The 38-year-old, then added 80 runs along with Sarfaraz Ahmed laying a solid foundation for a big total.

During his 99-minute stay at the crease Hafeez slammed eight fours and two sixes at a strike rate of 135.48.

The veteran all-rounder also chipped in with the wicket of England skipper Eoin Morgan at crucial juncture and finished with figures of 1/43 in seven overs.
Chasing a daunting total, England were restricted to 334/9 as they suffered their first loss of the World Cup campaign.
