India vs New Zealand WTC Final Highlights: Kane Williamson, Ross Taylor guide New Zealand to inaugural WTC title

New Zealand enjoyed the greatest triumph in their cricket history as they beat India by eight wickets in the inaugural World Test Championship final at Southampton on Wednesday. Two years on from their agonising Super Over loss to England in the 50-over World Cup final at Lord's, New Zealand's men claimed their first major global title. Set a victory target of just 139 in 53 overs, New Zealand finished on 140-2 with more than seven overs left after the match was extended into the reserve sixth day after two days' play were completely washed out. Two cracker of a deliveries from Kyle Jamieson to end the over. Both Jamieson and Virat Kohli have a smile on their faces. Kohli on both the occasions presses forward and gets beaten by the away movement. The ball narrowly misses the outside edge on both the occasions. IND 71/2 after 34 overs.

Last time a Test went into Day 6 was in 1979. Still a little bit of grass but not as much as yesterday. WIth the sun beating down, it should ease out nicely for the batsmen. Realistically it looks like a draw unless India lose wickets quickly. Can't see India trying to press in a manner where they will look to set a target. Lovely day to bat. Nicest day we've had throughout the Test. Should be relatively easy for batting. Probably got a draw written all over it, but it's a funny old game.

Theatrics!

We'll reassess in the morning and come up with our plan that's best suited for tomorrow. But we know we've got a tough day ahead of us. Like I said, it's exciting to have all three results still possible. It's a quality Indian batting lineup with two of their best in the crease at the moment. We're going to have to be on top of our game tomorrow and to come, and I think that first hour or two hours is going to be crucial to how each side sets up the day.

We have lost a lot of time due to rain. So there is no discussion as such, on a total. We have just started our second innings and we need to put runs on the board. We have to score as many as possible and then see how much time is left to put them in and decide accordingly. In conditions like England, anything can happen but we simply can't have a pre-plan in mind that we can get them out in this many overs. You need time to get 10 wickets and some solid plans in place. But first, we need to enough back-up runs.
