An update on playing hours for the remaining three days before we bid good bye for the day

Play will start 30 minutes early for the rest of the match to make up for the lost time. That means a 5 am IST start for the remaining three days of the match.

PLAY ABANDONED FOR THE DAY; WET GROUND CONDITIONS FORCE EARLY STUMPS

The entire post-Tea session went down the drain after a spell of heavy rain left the ground not fit enough to resume play, forcing the umpires to abandon play. The stoppage left India at 62/2 and trailing Australia by 307 runs in the first innings. Pujara (8*) and Rahane (2*) were at the crease when umpires called Tea. The home team can consider itself in front at the moment, having reached 369 in the morning and then coming back to take two wickets (Gill and Rohit), especially that of Rohit (44) who looked in ominous form before perishing to Lyon.

While we wait to hear more from Brisbane, here're some interesting bits about Nathan Lyon - the latest Aussie to join the 100-Test club.

UPDATE: There will be another inspection at 12:15 pm IST. The ground is still not dry enough to resume play, and the last thing India can risk is injury to another player. Stay tuned.

Tea Time at The Gabba

India 62 for the loss of two wickets, trail Australia (369) by 307 runs. So far, it's been Australia's day, especially after that wicket of Rohit (44) who was looking in ominous touch, but is himself to be blamed for that rash shot off Lyon. It's been a struggle for the visitors since Rohit departed. Pujara batting on 8 off 49 balls and Rahane on 2 off 19 balls.

10:09 (IST), Jan, 16

Rahane finally gets off the mark to score his first run of the 17th ball he faced. It was also India's first run since Rohit departed; 29 dot balls in between.

10:04 (IST), Jan, 16

Australia bowl four maidens on the trot. Rahane yet to open his account, has 0* off 12 balls. Pressure mounts. India 60/2.

10:00 (IST), Jan, 16

Rahane plays his 12th dot ball, yet to open his account. Pressure being exerted by the Aussies. India 60/2,

09:57 (IST), Jan, 16

And that Rohit wicket was No. 397 for Lyon in Test cricket. Big landmark approaching for the offie. Will he get to 400 in his 100th Test?

09:55 (IST), Jan, 16

Fact

Nathan Lyon has now dismissed Rohit Sharma the most times (6) in Test cricket.

ICC sumps up the big moment on Day 2

09:47 (IST), Jan, 16

OUT! Lyon strikes, against the run of play. Rohit (44) plays one shot too many. Tries to come out to loft the off-spinner but ends up in the hands of Starc. India 60/2. And Rohit pulled up feeling his hamstring, it seems, just after playing that shot. That makes it even worse. India don't want any more injuries.

09:46 (IST), Jan, 16

Four No. 6 for Rohit. This time off Lyon, in front of point.

09:44 (IST), Jan, 16

Rohit Sharma (40*), it seems, is setting himself up for something special here. He moves into the 40s with another boundary through mid-off. India 55/1.
