NEW DELHI: Legendary Australian batter Allan Border lavished praise on star India pacer Jasprit Bumrah with the mention of legendary Malcolm Marshall. However, Border acknowledges that a direct comparison with Marshall is difficult since he never faced Bumrah personally.

Border emphasizes that Bumrah is on par with Marshall in terms of impact. He highlights Bumrah's consistency, noting that he rarely bowls a spell without taking a wicket, and praises his unique style and ability, which set him apart from other bowlers.

"I can't properly compare him to Marshall because I never faced Bumrah but just watching him there is not much (between them). Bumrah is remarkable. He rarely bowls a spell without taking a wicket. He is different," Border told the News Corp.

"Because of his action, he lets the ball go later. And he smiles all the time. He can beat a batsman three times in a row and smile each time. I have never seen anyone like him," he further added.

Bumrah's impressive 6/76 in the first innings of the third Test against Australia in Brisbane marked his 10th five-wicket haul outside Asia, surpassing Kapil Dev's record of nine.

Bumrah now has three five-wicket hauls in Australia, three in South Africa, and two each in the West Indies and England. In comparison, Kapil achieved five fifers in Australia, and two each in England and the West Indies.

Notably, this is Bumrah's eighth five-wicket haul in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia) conditions, once again surpassing Kapil, who recorded seven in these regions.
