NEW DELHI: India sealed a commanding 337-run victory over England in the second Test at Edgbaston on Sunday, bundling out the hosts for 271 in their second innings on the final day. With this emphatic win — their first-ever Test triumph at Edgbaston — Shubman Gill and his team levelled the five-match series 1-1.Following the historic win, India skipper Shubman Gill, along with pacers Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj, collected the stumps as cherished souvenirs.

This marks Gill’s maiden victory as India’s Test captain, having taken over leadership duties after Rohit Sharma announced his retirement ahead of the series.England, resuming the day at 72 for 3, slumped to 153 for 6 by lunch as India’s bowlers kept up relentless pressure. The hosts never looked in contention to chase down the imposing 608-run target and were eventually bowled out in the second session.

Akash Deep (6/99) starred with the ball, claiming his maiden five-wicket haul in Test cricket. He made early inroads in the rain-delayed morning session with two key strikes and returned after lunch to deliver the decisive blow by removing Jamie Smith for 88 — England’s lone bright spot in an otherwise disappointing batting effort.The 27-year-old then wrapped up the match by dismissing Brydon Carse for 38.The series now moves to London, with the third Test set to begin on July 10.
