Day 4 session 2 in a nutshell!
India picked up four wickets in the second session but England took their lead to 360 at Tea on Day 4 as they tightened their grip on the 1st Test. Resuming on 1/1 post lunch, Ashwin continued to put pressure on England but the visitors, in pursuit of some quick runs, kept the scoreboard ticking in the second session even after losing regular wickets. Ashwin claimed three wickets while Jasprit Bumrah removed Joe Root for 40 but England, even after being reduced to 119/5 took their overall lead past 350 in the second session. Jos Buttler (14*) and Ollie Pope (18*) were at the crease for England when umpires decided to go for the break.

A one-run over from Ishant Sharma as umpires go for the tea break. A good session for India as they chipped away with four wickets but England are still on top as their lead swells to 360. Jos Buttler (14*) and Ollie Pope (18*) go back to the pavilion unbeaten.

Another tight over from Jasprit Bumrah. Just 3 runs from his third over. Bumrah, at one end, is making life difficult for the batsmen. Both Ollie Pope and Jos Buttler finding difficult against him. Change in bowling at the other end from skipper Virat Kohli as Ishant Sharma replaces Shahbaz Nadeem. ENG 118/5

WICKET! Jasprit Bumrah strikes. Traps Joe Root in front of the stumps. Reverse-swing does the trick for Bumrah as India continue to fight back in this second innings. ENG 101/5, lead by 342 runs

An interesting first over from Jasprit Bumrah. Came in late, after 21 overs, to bowl his first over but has started off beautifully. Missed out on the wicket of Joe Root in the over to go with a couple of plays and misses. ENG 95/4, lead by 336 runs

Root survives a review!
That was an excellent decision by umpire Nitin Mennon. Jasprit Bumrah traps Joe Root in front and was absolutely convinced about it. India took the review but ball tracking confirms that the delivery was missing the top of leg stump. Root survives. India lose their second review!

Review comes to Pope's rescue!
Review saves Ollie Pope! But Ashwin is bowling superbly at the moment. The Englishmen are really having a hard time against Ashwin. Pope goes for the sweep but misses. The ball hits his arm and balloons up. Umpire Anil Chaudhary rules it out but has to change his decision after replays confirm that there was no bat or glove involved. ENG 79/4, lead by 320 runs

OUT! Third wicket for R Ashwin in the second innings. Rishabh Pant takes a brilliant sharp low catch to get rid of Ben Stokes (7). Ashwin is on fire! England batsmen are really struggling against him in this innings. India continue to fight back. ENG 71/4, lead by 312 runs

OUT! Wicket no. 300 for Ishant Sharma in Tests. Traps Dan Lawrence in front of the stumps for 18. Lawrence goes for the review but that looked dead out to the naked eye. Replays and ball tracking comfirm umpire Nitin Menon's decision. Ishant Sharma now becomes the third Indian pacer after Kapil Dev and Zaheer Khan to take 300 wickets in Tests. ENG 58/3

Change of bowling strategy for India as Ishant Sharma comes in to replace Shahbaz Nadeem. Joe Root looked aggressive against Nadeem in the previous over, hitting him for a couple of boundaries and India skipper Virat Kohli has quickly reacted to it. ENG 43/2, lead by 284 runs

Ashwin strikes again!
OUT! Second wicket for Ashwin. Cheteshwar Pujara takes a sharp catch at leg slip as Dom Sibley falls for 16. Another wicket surrenders to the turning track. Ashwin bowls a beautiful line and gets the result. Both England openers are now back in the hut. ENG 32/2
