Earlier, SRH bowlers ensured GT did not run away with the game. Praful Hinge (2 wickets), Sakib Hussain (2 wickets) and Pat Cummins (1 wicket) combined to restrict the hosts to 168/5. Hinge struck early, removing Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler, as GT were reduced to 34/2 in the powerplay, their lowest of the season.
Sai Sudharsan anchored the innings with a classy 61 off 44 balls, while Washington Sundar provided late acceleration with a quick 50, helping GT recover through a crucial partnership after early pressure. Sakib Hussain eventually broke the stand by dismissing Sudharsan, but Sundar’s late hitting ensured a competitive total.
In response, SRH were blown away by GT’s pace attack. Mohammed Siraj struck in the first over, removing Travis Head for a duck, before Kagiso Rabada tore through the top order with 3/28, leaving SRH reeling at 34/4 inside six overs. Jason Holder then ran through the middle order with 3/20, while Prasidh Krishna (2/23) and Rashid Khan also contributed wickets.
SRH never recovered, losing wickets in clusters and eventually folding for 86. The win marked GT’s biggest-ever IPL victory by runs and extended their dominance over SRH, with six wins in their last seven meetings.
