MI vs SRH Highlights, IPL 2026: Ryan Rickelton's ton goes in vain as Head, Klaasen power SRH to six-wicket win over MI

MI vs SRH Highlights, IPL 2026: Sunrisers Hyderabad pulled off a stunning six-wicket win over Mumbai Indians, chasing down a massive 244-run target in just 18.4 overs. The chase was powered by explosive knocks from Travis Head (76), Abhishek Sharma (45), and Heinrich Klaasen (65)*, who ensured SRH maintained control despite a brief middle-order wobble.

SRH got off to a flying start, racing to 92/0 in the powerplay, with Head smashing a 20-ball fifty. Mumbai briefly fought back through Ghazanfar and Hardik Pandya, but Klaasen’s aggressive finish sealed the chase comfortably.

Earlier, Mumbai Indians had posted a formidable 243/5, led by Ryan Rickelton’s unbeaten 123, the fastest century for MI, and Will Jacks’ 46. However, their bowlers failed to contain SRH’s relentless batting, as the visitors completed one of the most remarkable chases of IPL 2026.

MI vs SRH Live Score, IPL 2026: Hardik Pandya during the toss
''We will bat first. Looks like a good pitch, it's breezy and a bit cold. I don't think dew will be a factor. It was important for us to reset and not get too complicated, we had a couple of good boys' evenings and a couple of net sessions. Now ready for the game. Mitchell was unfortunate, as was Quinny today, he had a wrist injury. There are a couple of changes: Rickelton comes in, Minz is in. Rohit will need a couple more games, he's trying, but it's not up to the mark. I want to play the best cricket I know as well'' Hardik said

The captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad - Pat Cummins, about his thoughts on the toss result, says that they would have bowled first anyway. Details that it's a bit tacky in nature, so they are happy to bowl. More broadly, he stresses the importance of resetting expectations from game to game, noting that each pitch asks different questions and the key is to assess the conditions in front of you rather than arrive with a fixed mindset. On team changes, Cummins confirms Harsh Dubey comes into the side in place of Shivang Kumar. On supporting his bowlers through difficult spells, Cummins says he hopes they trust what he tells them. He shares that he uses his own opinion of the pitch to guide them and is not shy about the fact that he has been hit around himself in the past. For him, he says, it is about putting an arm around his bowlers and making sure they feel backed and confident enough to come back hard.

19:03 (IST) Apr 29

The captain of the Mumbai Indians - Hardik Pandya says that it looks like a breezy and cold evening and dew would not play a factor, so they want to put up a good score. Adds that they just needed to take some time off, had a couple of good boys' night outs. Pandya shares that it was important for all of them to just reset and not get too complicated. He reckons they are refreshed and are excited for this game. Hardik informs that it was an unfortunate injury to Santner and Quinton de Kock has also done something to his wrist. So, Ryan Rickelton comes in the team along with Robin Minz. Ends by saying that Rohit will take a couple of more games, he is trying but still not where he wants to be.

IPL Live: ‘Need to win every game’: Gavaskar warns MI
Legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has raised concerns over the Mumbai Indians' (MI) inconsistent form in the ongoing IPL 2026, warning that the five-time champions should win all their remaining matches to keep their playoff hopes alive after they suffered a one-sided loss against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Speaking on Star Sports ahead of MI's clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 29, JioStar expert Gavaskar highlighted MI's inconsistency in the ongoing season and pointed to their recent batting collapse against CSK.

"MI now need to win every game from here, and they have the capability to do that. It's just about things clicking for them," Gavaskar said.

Referring to their batting failure in the previous outing, he added, "The recent loss, especially getting bowled out for 100-odd against CSK, was disappointing. Such heavy defeats can hurt them later, particularly in a tight race for the fourth playoff spot."

MI vs SRH Live Score, IPL 2026: Ashwani Kumar on bowling with new ball, working with Malinga
Ahead of his side's Indian Premier League (IPL) fixture against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Mumbai Indians pacer Ashwani Kumar spoke on being ready if given a chance to bowl with the new ball and working with pace bowling coach Lasith Malinga.

MI, which are currently at the bottom half of the table at ninth spot with just two wins in seven games, will be looking to get their third win of the season against an upbeat SRH, who have established themselves as genuine title contenders, especially with the skipper Pat Cummins returning in the previous game against Rajasthan Royals (RR).

Speaking during the presser, Ashwani, who has mostly bowled in the middle overs and death overs this season, said on bowling with the new ball, "Bowlers are working on bowling with the new ball (such as Bumrah, Boult etc). I am also working with them. If I get a chance, I will do it (bowl with the new ball).

On working with Malinga, he said that the work is mostly on mental side of things and developing his yorker and slower deliveries.

"He (Malinga) also talks to me mentally about how to handle the pressure. We are also working on the skills. I am also working on the yorkers and slowers," he added.

In nine matches for MI since his debut last year, Ashwani has taken 17 wickets at an average of 17.24, with two four-fers to his name.

SRH vs MI Live Score, IPL 2026: SRH find momentum with Pat Cummins’ return

The Wankhede Stadium is expected to produce another high-scoring contest, with the average first-innings total hovering above 200. However, MI’s recent inconsistency at home, including a collapse in their last outing against CSK, adds to the pressure.

As things stand, Rohit Sharma remains a doubtful starter. His return could provide a much-needed boost, but unless he is fully fit, Mumbai Indians may once again have to navigate a must-win situation without one of their most experienced and influential

MI vs SRH Highlights, IPL 2026: A fearless batting display from Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Heinrich Klaasen powered Sunrisers Hyderabad to a sensational six-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians, chasing down a massive target of 244 in Match 41 of IPL 2026 at the Wankhede Stadium.

What initially appeared to be a daunting chase quickly turned into a masterclass in aggressive T20 batting.

SRH came out all guns blazing. Abhishek Sharma wasted no time, taking on Trent Boult and even smashing a six off Jasprit Bumrah early on. Travis Head joined the onslaught, tearing into Boult with a flurry of boundaries, including a slice over backward point that resulted in a six.

The duo raced to 43/0 in just three overs, maintaining relentless pressure. Mumbai’s attempt to introduce spin backfired, as the openers hammered Will Jacks for 19 runs in an over.

By the end of the powerplay, SRH had surged to a staggering 92/0, one of the highest totals conceded by Mumbai Indians in that phase.

Head was particularly destructive, bringing up a 20-ball half-century, while Abhishek kept pace with fluent strokeplay. At one stage, SRH were scoring at nearly 16 runs per over, with the chase firmly under control.

However, Mumbai briefly fought back when AM Ghazanfar struck twice in two balls, removing Abhishek (45) and Ishan Kishan (0). Hardik Pandya then dismissed Head (76), giving MI a glimmer of hope.

That hope was short-lived as Heinrich Klaasen took over. The South African batter launched a brutal counterattack, smashing boundaries at will and reaching a 22-ball fifty.

He remained unbeaten on 65, guiding SRH home comfortably, with Salil Arora (14 off 6)* applying the finishing touches as Hyderabad completed the chase in 18.4 overs.

Earlier, Mumbai Indians had posted a formidable 243/5, powered by a sensational 123 from Ryan Rickelton* and a rapid start from Will Jacks (46 off 22).

The opening pair laid a strong foundation, taking MI to 78/0 in the powerplay. Rickelton continued to dominate, reaching a 44-ball century, the fastest ever by a Mumbai Indians batter.

Despite contributions from Hardik Pandya (31 off 15), MI’s massive total proved insufficient against SRH’s relentless batting.

Mumbai Indians: 243/5 (Rickelton 123*, Jacks 46)
Sunrisers Hyderabad: 249/4 (Head 76, Klaasen 65*)

Sunrisers Hyderabad won by 6 wickets
