Odell Beckham Jr. is heading back to the place where his
NFL journey first became special. The New York Giants officially signed the veteran wide receiver on Monday after he impressed the team during a private workout at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center. The move comes after the Giants suddenly needed help at wide receiver following Gunner Olszewski’s season-ending Achilles injury during practice last week.
The return also gives Beckham another chance to restart his career after missing the entire 2025 NFL season. At 33, many fans wondered if the former superstar would get another NFL opportunity. Now, he is back with the same franchise that made him one of the biggest names in football more than a decade ago. NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo first reported that the Giants and Beckham were close to a deal before the team later confirmed the signing through its official social media accounts.

For Giants fans, Beckham’s return brings back memories of one of the most exciting periods in recent franchise history. The wide receiver was selected by New York with the 12th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft and quickly became one of the league’s biggest stars.
During his first season, Beckham won NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year after putting up huge numbers and becoming nearly impossible for defenders to stop. He later earned multiple Pro Bowl selections and crossed 1,000 receiving yards in four of his five seasons with the Giants.
Of course, many football fans still remember his unbelievable one-handed touchdown catch against the Dallas Cowboys in 2014. That play is still replayed today whenever people talk about the greatest catches in NFL history.
Still, Beckham’s first run with New York did not last forever. In 2019, the Giants traded him to the Cleveland Browns in a blockbuster move that shocked the league. Since then, he has also spent time with the Los Angeles Rams, Baltimore Ravens, and Miami Dolphins.
Injuries slowed him down over the last few years, and after sitting out the 2025 season completely, there were questions about whether he would play again. But the Giants clearly saw enough during Monday’s workout to believe he can still help the team.
The signing also adds experience to a Giants locker room that has dealt with injuries and uncertainty at wide receiver heading into the new season. Beckham now gets another chance to reconnect with the franchise where his NFL career first exploded onto the national stage.
