Batting first on a batting-friendly surface, GT’s top order completely dominated proceedings. Gill mixed elegance with aggression during his sparkling 84 off 44 deliveries, hammering nine fours and three sixes despite briefly receiving treatment for discomfort in his left foot. Alongside him, Sai Sudharsan continued his remarkable consistency with a fluent 55 as the pair added 118 runs for the opening wicket and took GT beyond 100 within nine overs.
RR’s bowling attack once again struggled badly, especially Jofra Archer, who conceded 46 runs in only three overs after leaking 18 in the opening over. Though Yash Raj Punia eventually dismissed Sudharsan, GT continued their assault through Washington Sundar’s unbeaten 37 and Rahul Tewatia’s late six-hitting cameo, finishing on 229/4.
Rajasthan’s chase began with fireworks from 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who smashed the first ball of the innings for six and raced to 36 off just 16 balls. Dhruv Jurel also counterattacked aggressively as RR reached 62/2 in only five overs.
However, Rashid Khan completely turned the match around. The leg-spinner removed Jurel and Donovan Ferreira in the same over before trapping Ravindra Jadeja lbw to finish with 4/33. Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada had earlier provided crucial breakthroughs, while Jason Holder wrapped up the innings with 3/12 as RR were bowled out for 152.
